We have 4 cats and the newest one came on Mothers day this year. One of the females and the male have started spraying like mad and only around the windows. Could it be because there are several cats, and one male in paticular, hanging around the house that are strays. I feel like I want to call Animal control but I dont want too because I love cats. What to do....
Tired of cats piss....

I have always believed in fixing all my pets. The kitten is just too young yet to fix. The others are 13, 12 and 6. All fixed.

One last detail, and as I am typing this I am rolling on the floor, My male wanted a drink out of the tub and my hubby wouldn't do it. The male got pissed, jumped on the counter, turned his back to my husband and sprayed him. What about that??

To be fair, ya'll don't know my husband. You might think he deserved it too if you lived with him.

Animal Control is for stray animals. These are not strays.
Did you neuter/spay them young? Or delay until they're older? Males especially will mark their territory by spraying.
You say a female has started spraying. Females don't usually spray. Not all urine outside the cat box is considered spray. Males do spray by backing up to an object and a more heavily scented urine sprays out while they're standing up.
If it's just urination outside the box, this is a common problem in a multicat household when cats are upset. It may go away by itself or it may not.
Do provide several litter boxes in different rooms and keep them extra clean. A soiled litter box gives an unhappy cat a reason to pee somewhere he/she shouldn't.
If you cannot solve the problem & they're all neutered/spayed & you have put out several boxes, the best thing to do is find a new home for the Mothers Day kitten. The others should return to normal.

My folks had this problem with thier fixed male cat. My guess is the male cat is super dominant, and when he see's the feral's, he feels the need to spray. The female cat is probably reacting from the male.
My first suggestion is to check both cats spraying with the Vet to make sure there isn't some sort of medical problem. Also, in some male cats, only one Testical descends, with the vet only removing one when the cat was fixed, leaving the other testical to cause all sorts of mischief.
Thing number two: look into a product called Feliway- It is suppose to mimic cat "Feel Good" phermones, and help keep dominant behavior in check. It works wonders with some, but not all.
Thing number three: Get rid of the strays. Call a local animal welfare group, and see if they would be willing to help you, or at least lend you humane traps (also, your animal control might be willing to lend you traps too). If you know of any farmers who will take the cats, and are responsible, you can than drop the cats off there. A rescue group might also might help you find places for the strays.
While trapping the cats, keep the shades closed on the windows, and make sure no cats can get underneath the shades and peer out. This will hopefully keep the strays out of your own cats thoughts, and hopefully they will forget about them.

You didn't say just how old your little guy is. Since I know you plan on having him fixed when he is old enough you might ask your vet about having him done "early." I put early in quotes because more and more vets are neutering males at very early ages. (Far earlier than was once the case.) Perhaps this is an option for you. Also maybe this little guy has developed a little more quickly than average.
As for the strays around the house there are some outfits that will spay-neuter feral and then leave them to live out their lives. (Since ferals rarely adjust well to domestic life.) I think Concern For Critters is one such organization. Your local animal shelter might know of others. They might be able to take care of your local group which might help stop their spraying. (Not to mention population control.) I hope this helped. Good luck.

Since your cats are all already fixed. Its more of a mental thing for your cat. There are products available that can help with that. Most are sprays. I would try petsmart or ask your Veterinarian...they can direct you to what works best.

ok they are doing that to tell the other cat that they are in charge that it is thier property, but the cats dont listen to eachother they are sort of in dispute , so you need to take back control of your house! they have this spray at pet smart or other pet places that you spray on everything, you can spray it on the carpet, the curtains ,the furniture ect... and they will not spray there, it repels them, but you dont smell it they do, so anywhere you spray it they will not spray, and it also works for them scratching, our cat scratches the couch like it is a scratching post but when you spray it on the furniture they wont even go near that area, not to even sit on the couch or anything , so the spray is wonderful, and it is aproximatly 11 dollars a bottle but its good stuff! i love it!

If you want your cats to stop spraying then get them spayed and neutered!! As long as they are not, they will continue to "mark territory". The strays that are doing it outdoors may stop once they cannot smell your cats "markings" any longer. It worked for us!

Well then use this method trust me it really works.Go get an empty spray bottle.Put water in it.Then you spray it on them everytime they spray. After a while when you keep on spraying water at them when they spray they should get the message soon.Because they hate water.
