My dog is named Santo. He is an Italian Greyhound who was rescued from a track in Mexico where they severly abused him (and hundreds of other dogs) there. The rescue who saved him wanted to give him an Italian name. He isn't quite a saint but I still love him.

My family had a Black Lab and we named him Orvis.

We named him this because we are fly fishing enthusiasts and Orvis is a big fly fishing equipment manufacturer. On the cover of the Orvis catalog, there is typically a beautiful black lab in the field. So we all came to the conclusion that Orvis was a perfect name for our best friend. It totally suited him.

He just passed a couple of months ago – we are still recovering from losing him.

It's hard to go by an Orvis store or see our equipment without tears welling. So be careful with pet names.

My Boston Terrier is named Poogan after a restaurant in Charleston, SC called Poogan's Porch. My partner and I fell in love with this restaurant. It was shown on that travel show "America's Most Haunted Places" or something like that. Also, Poogan's Porch is named as such because when the owners bought the home that the restaurant is in it came with a stray dog that they called Poogan. The very ORIGINAL Poogan was a cat that the very original occupant of the home had! If you or anyone is interested in this restaurant there is a website.

I saw one of the funniest movies ever, back in the '80s.
"Kiss me Goodbye".
Sally Field played the role of an actress and she had a cute little shaggy dog, that was sooo funny. Her dog's name was Shakespeare.

I too, am an actress. I knew, from that day on, that as soon as I would get a male lhasa apso, I would name him Shakespeare.

The day finally came.
I have a 1 year old male Lhasa Apso and his name is Shakespeare.
It fits him perfectly!

I also just recently found out, that William Shakespeare is the only person on the planet with his own personal dewey decimal number! Cool!

I have 3 dogs and their names are Jabberwalky, Chevi, and tiny. All three dogs are pretty big. We got jabbs name from a book I read when I was little, My husband is a machanic which is how Chevi got her name and tiny was too little to be from her mother. We rescued her from ppl who didn't take care of their animals. I also have two cats one Tigger because he has orange stripes, and Jasmine because that was the first name that came to mind when I looked at her for the first time.

My grandmother's dog is named Ginger because she had a dog named Ginger when she was young. My brother's dog is named Feliz (full name Feliz Navidog) because she's a chihuahua and he got her for Christmas. My cat I had in high school is named Kes, because I was a big fan of Star Trek Voyager. My brother's cat from that time period is named Purrl because she's all grey except for a little white around her throat like a pearl necklace. My brother's other cat is named Barningham because he found him on Barningham Road. My girl cat is named LadyGodiva because the condition for me getting a cat was that my then-roommate could name her, and she named her after a picture she has on Lady Godiva. Because I then nicknamed my cat God or God-Girl, when I got my boy cat he was named Jaheezus (full name Jaheezus Cah-rist, Son of Mercy, Mother of God) for the way radio and TV preachers say "Jesus". His mom's name is Mercedes, but called Mercy, and she was also the mother of Godiva, so that's where the Son of Mercy, Mother of God comes from. Although, my soon-to-be husband re-nicknamed them, so they're mostly Kittyboy and Kittygirl now. Because one's a boy and one's a girl.
If we get another cat, it will be named Nose-tradamus because our current cats are Persians, and so have very flat noses, but a new cat would have a regular nose.

We had a dog, she is since gone. But she was the funnest looking dog, she was pit bull, shar-pei, and German Shepherd mix. When we got her she was so malnourished and flee in fested, her head looked like the Toco Bell dog on a big body, We had no Idea what to name her and we were watching TV and saw a show Australia and they showed a Dingo. We went look the Dingos are as funny looking as her. So that is how she got her name, as she grew and was feed better she began to look more like a Shepherd.

Hans Bimidance Bowser the Third, but everybody called that dog by his short name, BOZO. The hans bimi thing was what was on the papers for the pedigree, that dog's family tree went back farther than most peoples. Bozo suited him well(english springer spaniel for field trials)

My daughter came up with my puppy's name-Tinkerbelle-we call her Belle

My other dog is Bo because she was too stupid to remember anything else.

I had a dog named Conn after an Irish king who was particulairly mean. The dog was sweet, but the full name was "Conn of a Hundred Battles" and I thought that was cool.

I had a dog named Footloose-when I adopted her, she was missing a foot.

I had a dog named Custer-we named him Custer so that when he fathered a puppy, we could call the dog Custer's revenge.

The best dog name I ever heard, though, is my cousin's dog whose name is "Dee Oh Gee" (aka DOG.) I wanted to get one of her puppies and call it Pee Ewe Pee. (pup)

I have 3 dogs-Poncho is a chihuahua, he got his name from an old county song "Poncho & Lefty". Brodie is a Siberian Husky, he got his name after Bordie Croyle (my husband is a Bama fan). Molly is a Black Lab I named her after a cartoon rag doll (Bump in the Night) because when she found us she was a mess, she had mange and was starving, she just looked like a rag doll!
