All you need is a blender or food processor, and ice cube trays. I used to make my own baby food when my kids were younger. Cook whatever you want to use, blend it well, and freeze it. I made everything except spaghetti and squash. If you plan on traveling, though, go for the storebought babyfood. It keeps longer.

I don't know what LovelyEmily did that would make making your own baby food so hard, but it's not hard at all.
All you need are a couple of ice trays, and a blender or food processor. And they have this little kit at walmart, they call it a Guacamole and Salsa kit that's on clearance for $15 and it has the perfect little food processor in it. It's small, and takes up just a little more space than a coffee cup, and it's a lot cheaper than those big ones, if you don't have one already.
You can do almost any babyfood at home too.
Avacado, carrots and bananas are all easy. My mom makes homemade apple sauce, and we just run a few jars of it in the blender as we're making it, for my son.

I used to make my daughter homemade oatmeal sometimes because she liked it better than rice cereal. Generally I would take some rolled oats and blend it up until it was a powder, then I would cook it with bottled water (our tap water tastes like chlorine) then put it back in the food processor with some baby-food fruit until nice and smooth and give it to her. Sometimes I would make apple cinnamon too- she loved the cinnamon! Other than that it's much easier at first to use the finely pureed baby foods from the store since it's really hard to get things smooth enough for a little baby, but as a child gets older you can take things from the table and mash them with a fork or potato masher- or throw them in the blender for a few seconds to chop up into little pieces.

There is a book called Super Baby Food by Ruth Yarron. A MUST HAVE!!! Not only does she go through soooo many different kinds of food, she has great money saving ideas, ideas for quick toddler type foods, and even arts and crafts ideas.
She tells you how to store food and the best way to prepare it. For example, you can freeze many foods in ice cube trays for the perfect infant-sized portion but you don't want to freeze potatoes because they take on a bitter flavor. Interesting, eh?
She also tells you when it is ok to introduce different kinds of foods. This will help save you lots of money and your kid's health because you are bypassing the preservatives of pre-fab baby food and as we should all know... we are what we eat.
Kudos mama for taking an interest in making your own food!

I don't know much about making baby food but I do know that the people I know who have tried it give it up quickly because it's alot of trouble. It's just as healthy as the stuff in the jars and it's alot more expensive since you have to buy the food processor and all the other tools--the jars are just easier..trust me.

www.onestepahead.com has a nice blender made specifically for making your own baby foods. And you can find alot of great books on the subject on www.amazon.com for pretty cheap. Good luck! I've always made my babies' foods and plan to with this next little one on the way.

I never bought baby food from the store.
All you need is your food processor or blender and good healthy whole-food recipies. I recommed using whole foods and a Cuisinart.
Good mommy!

It's really easy!!! Just steam everything or use a dutch oven (a pot that slow cooks in the oven) I used my blender and froze everything in serving-sized containers. It is so healthy for your child and less expensive in the long run.

I dont think you need anything besides a blender or food procesor... You simply boil potatoes, carrots, etc and beef/chicken and then blend it...
