Ok here is the deal...This past week I have started this new flossing routine. Since I have started the upper left side of my mouth has been killing me!! I know its not a cavity because I just went to the dentist about a month ago. I dont know if it is my gum or my tooth it is just the general area and it hurts!! Could I have flossed to hard? Any input is appreciated!

You could have flossed too hard and cut the gum and now the tissue is inflamed. You may need to let it heal for a couple of days so the inflammation can go down.;

it could be due to vigorous flossing which is just simply flossing too hard which irritates the gums....you might want to floss a little more gently next time....it could also be due to all that plaque buildup finally getting cleaned out like when you dont brush for a while then you brush and you bleed a lot

Flossing too hard can damage your gums. They can be fragile. Try gargling some salt water and rinsing with some mouthwash. If you have cut your gums, this may sting, but it will heal faster.

It is probably because the gum is swollen from the plauqe that was under it. Try rinsing with salt water and it should be gone in a few days to a few weeks.

Your gums are probably inflamed. If you didn't get your teeth cleaned while you were at the dentist, make an appointment w/ their hygienist. If it's bad they may give you two seperate appointments/a two part cleaning so as not to further irritate them.

It could just be your gums getting used to the new routine, that is most likely the problem.

Hope you found this helpful.

its probably from your new flossing routine...your mouth is not used to it, so your mouth is now irritated...its fine, it will go away soon, if it doesnt then go to your dentist
