The fact is that Jesus never founded a church. He only created a following that later created the church after his death. Cheifly the early churches where founded by Paul. In Early Chistian times the Roman Pope was only one of dozens of bishop-like leaders across the anceint world. See each city had their own high bishop and the pope was just the one that happened to be in Rome. As time went on the pope came to dominant the other leaders because he led the largest and the grandest city. The other religous leaders of various cities made the pope their central leader and were sometimes compelled to do so by the armies that the church of Rome fielded. The other Christain churches came about by spliting off the catholic church. During the Great Schism Eastern Orthodox left the Roman Church over the use of idols (though ironically both churches there after decided to allow idols to depict biblical figures). The protestant churches split off later as a result of Martin Luther's proclaimations against the corruption of the Catholic Church. The anglecans where founded by king Henry VIII, the Lutherans followed the new doctine of Luther and all of them Presbitarians, methodist, calvanist and so on came about in a similar manner. Sorry that's a very long way of saying that if you study the history of christanity (and about the thing discussed abouve there is no debate) you'll see that Jesus didn't found any church at all. His followers did.

I agree! The Catholic Church is the one true church that Jesus founded. All other churches simply broke away from the Catholic Church because they did not agree with the words/sacraments/teachings that Jesus gave to the Church.

Jesus never "founded" a church. He lived the way of life His Father wanted us to live. His disciples spread the Gospels after his death. It doesn't matter what religion you are just that you believe in Jesus and what he did for us and that He is now sitting at the right hand of our Maker.

I will not judge ones religious preference, but I must say that Christianity is what it is all about. Whether you are Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, Pentecost, etc., being a Christian is what is important.
The "church" that you mention is Jesus's followers. The body of the church that Jesus "founded" is made up of His followers - Christians.

Jesus did not found ANY church. Humans created religion. Jesus taught love and acceptance of all. All religions are exclusive and divisive and against the teachings of Jesus.

I was brought up a catholic. When I was old enough, I realized it was just all BS. Jesus did not found a church. There is nothing written to even suggest he attended one. Go figure...

Why does eather yours or mine have to be the right religion? You believe and I believe that we are sinners and that Christ died to save us and make a way back to God.I believe that I will live in heaven with God after I die as do you.I believe I will see you there when I get there. There was a time when Jesus' disciples came to him and said there is another group of people healing in your name that are not a part of our group.Should we rebuke them? Jesus said that anyone that is not against us is for us.If all Christians do not learn to get over themselves and work together, love each other....we will never win a world for Christ. So no...I don't wish to prove you are wrong and I am right.

I want to know where in the Bible it says that Christ created Catholicism. I'm a Christian. A non-denominational Christian. I live my life solely on the word of God. Show me where Christ created the Holy Catholic church. Show me where He ordained the Pope, the Cardinals, the priests, etc. Show me where Christ said you must confess your sins to a priest before you can consider yourself forgiven. Show me where in the Bible says that you have to stand, kneal, sit, stand, sing, chant, and eat wafers and drink wine. Next you'll try to pass off that Jesus started building the Vatican before He died.

Jesus did NOT begin the Catholic religion. It says nowhere in the Bible to pray to His mother. Jesus also did not begin my relgious sect "non-denominational" Christianity. I just read the Bible and try to make sense of it.

Any church that preaches the Word of God is a church of God. God's "chosen" people are the Jews. And I am a Gentile. I'm also Baptist. But I know that God is in our church because my Pastor preaches the Word of God. Peter talks of stuff like that in his letters he wrote in the Bible.
