For the past 2-3 weeks, out of nowhere, I am craving carbs. I haven't been an Atkins type of diet or anything that would have restricted my carbs. So, I'm at a loss. Any chance anyone else had this problem?

Perhaps you have a vitamin or mineral deficiency. Ask your doctor if it's okay to take a multi-vitamin of some sort. Of course if you are excercising, the body sometimes desires more carbs. And if you are a woman it could be that time appraoching.

You may be getting carbs in your diet that are high glycemic versus low glycemic (ie rice, pasta, potato, etc.). The right carbohydrates are either complex carbohydrates or fiber, and have a low-glycemic index. Complex carbohydrates and fiber generally supply additional healthy trace elements and phytonutrients, as well as energy.
A healthy diet includes a variety of protein sources including complete proteins, which contain all of the essential amino acids.
High-glycemic foods provide quick energy, but it is usually short lived and hunger soon returns. Low-glycemic foods provide greater satiety and sustained energy, which makes eating less and losing weight easier.

Try eating a low-glycemic diet for a while and see if that helps. Check out my site below for more information on the glycemic index and low glycemic foods.

I'm no doctor, but I do know that carbs are filling. Carbs give us energy, and when they are restricted or we don't get enough of them, we crave them.
Have you been sick, or extra tired? When we don't get enough carbs we are tired and our bodies just want them plain and simple!
