Pediasure, and Vitamins are essential. I have a Son with the same problem. What I was told aside from the above is to ensure he is eating healthy and getting the food groups appropriately. Basically it boils down to how active they are. My Son is very active. Talk with you doctor above all else.

Personally, I do not think that is a good idea, to put your son on a diet to gain weight. If the doctor thinks your son is at an abnormal weight, he will tell you.
Most of the time, boys are very fussy eaters when they are little. If he is eating something that he likes, just be happy that he is eating something, even if its just peanut butter and toast.
If I were you, I would consult your child's pediatrician before putting him on a diet. Its best to voice your concerns with a medical professional.

hi there first of all i want to let you know that you aren't the only one struggling with there child gaining some weight.. but i might ask what does your son weigh and how tall is he? because my son is the same way only he is really tall but like almost 15 lbs underweight or at least he was till i put him on alot of peanut butter sandwiches and eggs because those are 100 percent protien and that provides what they need to gain weight. make sure that he doesnt drink alot of milk because that is just alot of calories but other than the calcium which is good for them but it is filling him up before he gets to the food. make sure that you balance it out and don't let him graze all day either, when you fix a meal make sure he knows that if he doesn't eat that then he will not get anything till the next meal or next routine snack time.. with kids routine is the biggest thing. you will be surprised that in about a weeks time that his eating will change and that he will probably start putting on the pounds..

You shouldn't be putting a 5 year old on a diet to gain weight. Let him develop more and if by age 10 he is still small for your liking than ask his doctor what to do. If you have concerns ask his doctor now and see what he or she says.

first of all, there are reasons why a child may be underweight, such as thyroid problem or genetic causes. is he losing weight or is he not gaining it? need to do blood test to eliminate any physiological possibilites before proceeding to giving him any nutrition plan. sometimes, it's nothing, just the way a person is built. are either parents built lean? foodwise, grains and butter would do good. if he has no appetite, vitamins B6 and B12 do open appetite. if i were you, just to be on the safe side, i would take a child for a thorough medical exam and see what the causes of his weight problem are. there are also times when parents worry about a child's weight, but then it turns out there was nothing to worry about.

He's still kinda young so I wouldnt put him on anything to try to make him gain weight. However i would give him some of that pediasure everyday in order to make sure he is getting all his essential vitamins everyday. I have been told this makes some children pick up healthy weight if they're lacking it. Good Luck!

Feed him healthy foods and more food at a time. If he is only five years old he shouldnt need a diet to gain more weight.

Try Pediasure to help gain weight and also vitamins. But usually if you allow healthy snacks during the day like apples, carrots, cheese, yogurt, and stuff that has healthy fat it will be better for him.
