Because I could count off the days until I got married on it. I started in January, and got married in May. :-)
I do the same thing with Christmas, but I start off on Dec. 1.
also, i am hopelessly forgetful. if it isnt on the calendar, it doesnt get done.

Perhaps its because it has so many uses. The main one
being that it helps us keep track of important appointments, birthdays, celebrations etc.
