What the Bible says about Children
Children who refuse to obey their parents must be executed.
"If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them: Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place; And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard. And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear." -- Deuteronomy 21:18-21
"He that smiteth his father, or his mother, shall be surely put to death." -- Exodus 21:15
"He that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death." -- Exodus 21:17
Children who mock their parents will have their eyes plucked out by ravens and eaten by eagles.
The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it. -- Proverbs 30:17
Like Abraham, parents should be willing to kill their children for God.
"And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and ... offer him there for a burnt offering.... And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son." -- Genesis 22:2,10
God killed all the firstborn children in an entire country.
"The LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon.... And there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead." -- Exodus 12:29-30
Sometimes God kills children for misbehaving.
"And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head. And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them." -- 2 Kings 2:23-24
Someday God will force parents eat their own children. "And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat." -- Leviticus 26:16
"And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat." -- Leviticus 26:29
"And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters." -- Deuteronomy 28:53
"And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and they shall eat every one the flesh of his friend." -- Jeremiah 19:9

yes, we need the Bible taught in our schools, so our children can learn about religious history.not from a religious point of view, but from a secular point of view.you can open the Bible, and read about archeology, peoples, and, customs; it is all there.if Christian families are gonna pay taxes, to have our government teach their children, should not parents also have a say about their education?don't parents have a right to have an education for their children which includes how;in god we trust began its legacy? what about the history of Christians, that make up our country? i thought school was about learning? now; i can understand some people being uncomfortable about Christianity being taught in our schools, so how about this for a solution.lets have our schools choose religious waivers, that parents have to sign, to have their child taught certain religious courses, side by side with regular school work.these religious studies can be assembled together universally, as to satisfy all denominations.our government takes civil rights away from parents all the time.isn't it about time, parents start getting some of those rights back.this is an imperfect solution for an imperfect world we live in!
okay, here is solution number two:our government already gives out school vouchers for less fortunate people to attend better schools.why not take this a step further,why can't our government hand out vouchers to parents, and let their child attend a catholic school instead? if our government did this, atheists and Christians would be happy.i think we have more important issues to worry about, instead of this; such as, teenage pregnancy,sex,drugs, and other things that kids do that destroy their value system. in my opinion, having religion taught in schools is not the problem, but to take away morals and values that can be taught from the Bible, seems like a Jim Crow sort of solution.

Darwin, Darwin, Darwin. You are so good at researching the Bible, but I need to get with you on interpretation. I thing that in the first series of verses that quoted God is referring to an adult child, not a minor. It is also important to note that it is the parents that are bring him before the elders. in the time that this was recorded, the charges made against the man were very serious. It is not like today where society could care less how a child treats his parents. I do not have the time to comment on the other passages, but generally the same holds true. Interpret scripture in the context that it was written. Jesus love you.

I would have phrased the question differently and ask if all sacred text should be taught in school?
Yes because then we all would have a chance of understanding one of the great forces that formed civilizations. As a matter of facts all sacred text contain passages about many topics that would not be accepted in Western Secular Society which is trying to say through the Masonic Lodges and other secret societies that all religions should be equally accepted whether they are truth or not.

yes I would aprove it. It was the word of god. If you continue to read on, which i hope you do, you will also come across a passage where god says:
"honor thy mother and father and your days will be long"
God also sadi tooth for a tooth and eye for an eye as well.
But, when jesus came along he made revisions to that. You no longer have to seek retribution for yourself just as we no longer kill bad kids. vengence is now the lords.
But it is still fit for the class becuz it is history and this actually happened.
i mean we teach kids about nazis death camps, why not this?

Are you trying to say the bible is irrelevant? This is a fine way to treat children. Isn't God merciful. This makes the systematic beatings I received from the nuns while in grade school almost compassionate. Sister Renee was very large, now she could have eaten me.( Perhaps those bake sale cookies she rammed down her gullet saved me?) This bible you speak of is way too violent and visceral to me. The Da Vinci Code is more realistic and a better read.

Maybe god does not love us all. This is why so many christian children are, or will grow up to be gay. Talking about children in this way is the reason so many priests/preachers think it is OK to rape alter boys. I am more proud to be atheist than 5 minutes ago, because of your question.

We do not make up our own rules, if you add false commandments, you are breaking Gods law, and murder is one of them. You are taking scripture that goes with other things and feeding it out of context, many scriptures are written in parablyls, so it gets the person reading it to think, study and reflect on what it means and how it should pertain to our life.
