This isn't technically a religious question but since so many of you here decide to email me personally, with pithy and smarta** comments from now on everyone who does will now be part of my myspace blog. I WILL be using your name on there. I'm not protecting anyone. So make yourself famous and have your yahoo answers name on my myspace blog! Now here's my question: why do so many religious nuts feel the need to try and convert me?

Because they don't want to have to kill you, but if you refuse to convert, they will have no choice. And, when they do kill you, it will only be because they love you so much. And to demonstrate their love for Jesus.

I don't get that myself. I'm not sure why they would feel the need to force their 'information' on people who aren't receptive to it. Usually when someone seems uninterested in what I'm talking about I stop talking about it and change the subject - because as I have found, continuing on not only irritates the person but puts a bit of a burr in their side in regards to the information. Making the unreceptive to future attempts at talking about it.

I think that at this point in the game, Christianity is pretty much well known. If people are, in fact, interested in converting then the information is out there and available to them.
Granted, some of the converters will still quote the bible and say it is their duty to brandish god's word about to all those 'sinners'. Which makes sense...if you lived back in the early days before print was easy to get a hold of and Christianity was a brand new concept for everyone. I mean, what a great idea, adding that into the book. Spread the word! Get us known! Marketing! Yes! But I think at this point, it's overkill. We know. We've all heard the speech. We know what options are available to us, and we're able to chose our own paths. Regardless of how supposedly evil those paths are. Heh.

Your myspace blog should prove to be some interesting reading. :)

It is a numbers game for certain types of religious nuts. They feel that they "get points" the more converts they make. Kinda like the Yahoo Answers points system. Seriously, some people think their salvation is tied to how many points they get. That is basically your fundamentalist Christians. The Muslim's who are trying to convert people on this board believe that Allah commanded the Muslim's to get everyone to worship Allah and obey Islamic law, because Allah is very angry at non-Muslims and that peace only comes when Islam rules the world.

Now, I as a Catholic, say in accord with the Catholic faith, that we are to not force Catholicism on other people, or bug them about it. If they do not want to hear about it, they don't have to. Everyone is obliged to follow natural law and reason, so we promote that for everyone. The Catholic faith, we promote that for those that want it. We stand up when the faith is assailed, but we are not supposed to force it on people who don't want it.

It is like this, girlfriend. They are not trying to convert you simply because they feel like it. They are actually WARNING you of things to come. Living a life that is acceptable to God is not simply a matter of choice, it is also a matter or where you will spend eternity--that's a looong time! It is okay if you don't feel like it. No one is asking you to change your opinion. You are simply being invited to see that God is truly good. If you opt not accept, those "religious" acquaintances will love you anyway.
After all, your would not want to spend eternity with a bunch of religious freaks and actually get to meet God and have eternal life, would you?

Well, in their defense, the Bible does say to make disciples and that's essentially what they are trying to do to you. In your defense, if you've told them you are happy the way you are then they should leave you alone and stick solely to praying for your soul. But anyway you go, when you put yourself out there on the internet you open yourself up to all kinds of attacks. From Christians, terrorist, and anyone and everyone who uses the internet.

The bible says " Behold i give you life and Death, but i hope you chose life" so what i am doing is that i am presenting to you the salvation of the Lord. And Hopefully you will follow it Unto salvation. We have a friend that is always with you at the very point your need, and his name is Jesus. ask Him into your life, and He will come in and save you.

It's our job, basically. The Lord told us we're supposed to; it's called The Great Commission. It's so important that it gets capital letters. :o)
