For thousands of years India has been a veritable laboratory of religion: everything imaginable has been tried out, and nothing ever has completely been rejected.
God's innumerable forms, and the acknowledgement of His Presence in everything, are an expression of the extraordinary vitality of India's collective imagination down through the ages.
Idol or image is a kind of yantra or a device for harnessing the eye and mind on God. As the Vishnu Samhita puts it:
"Without a form how can God be mediated upon? If (He is) without any form, where will the mind fix itself? When there is nothing for the mind to attach itself to, it will slip away from meditation or will glide into a state of slumber. Therefore the wise will meditate on some form, remembering, however, that the form is a superimposition and not a reality."
A symbol such as a multi-armed image, graphically portraying God's astounding versatility and superhuman might. The use of symbolism extends to every detail of the image of a deity.

Hinduism is one of the most ancient mono-theistic religions in the world. ALL mono-theistic religions are IDENTICAL internally, to the extent that, (1) they all proclaim a One, Infinite deity; (2) they all proclaim, love thy neighbour as thyself, and, (3) they all proclaim good and truth towards thy neighbour. These three, in unity, define 'religion'.
Hinduism therefore, does NOT advocate the worship of of "any character" What some Hindus do however, is worship the Divine, through a visual representation of one of their holy men they believe was a divine aspect of the Most High - and there're many such in their long history. It is a country where gods walk.
Even if Hindus "worship anything", is Hinduism to be blamed? Of course not, nor more than anyone can blame Christianity for chattel slavery.

Hindus are followers of the religion Hinduism.Hindus do worship idols, trees, fire, rivers, earth because there is a belief that god manifests there.this might be a common reason.but
u may(or may not) agree with me that trees, fire, river earth are the vital sources of our survival.by worshiping them we just thank them for sustaining us.

they are vicious fighters not to be messed with.
and you made jesus your idol so don't judge.
others made don an idol.
ist commandment worship no God but Me. and e=arm and M=IVI stitched together. and according to Ex. 3.14 (good news bible) I AM is I A IVI stiched together. and as for despoilers who use other bibles it's just your excuse to deny the existance of god cause angels want god destroyed cause Rome is the refuge of the angel slaves that rev. reveals. so some of my angels need to be punished today.
