I think parents definitely need to be more involved about censoring what their kids wear.
It's not about what she thinks - it's about what you as a parent believes is best for her.

Bathing suits are revealing to begin with. Don't panic but state that you think she should wear a cover up around some adults because they may not have the best intentions. Or ask if you and she can agree on a specific bathing suit top.

this is really a matter of culture within the family. by the q I assume you are a very conservative family. I am 16 and don't see anything wrong with wearing a bikini top. My friends often wear them instead of a bra and that's cool. I think there's a good opportunity here for the 2 of you to discuss the issue and agree on a compromise - maybe she can wear one around home but not out, and maybe you have to agree on the style.

Well, that all depends. I think a modest bikini is fine (and I'm all about the modesty.) However, if she starts getting into the string, five inches between each cup type of bathing suit, then I think that is inappropriate.

Im 16. I didnt start wearing a bikini top till now. She could wear one w/o it being revealing to you. If you want her to wait another year or two then tell her and explain to her why.

It is okay. You seem a little old fashioned, and that's okay. Maybe you should use this as leverage for something. Like if she washes the dishes or washes your car for the next month you'll let her wear a two piece swim suit. Don't worry two pieces are so common now that their is nothing sexy about it any more.

Your kid, your rules.
On the other hand, sometimes the bottoms are a lot worse, so it might be a pick & choose your battle thing.
Maybe a compromise? Make sure it has shoulder straps, full coverage & support if she needs it, and a boyshort bottom? Go shopping with her and have her model the suits for you and decide together? Might be a good bonding opportunity.

It's fine... I know people that hvae been wearing bikinis since age eight...and they are perfectly respectable christians that wuold never kiss on the first date. However, if you're still worried about it, get one that's not a string bikini, (one with hooks instead of ties) w/ boyshort bottoms.

It maybe okay to some and not to others. If you are not yet comfortable with her waering a bikini then you should tell her and explain to her why.
She will either respect your decision or she won't.
You are the parent.
