Do all street vendors in New York City accept debit/credit cards and/or traveller's checks?

I'm going shopping in NYC and plan to buy purses from street vendors in places such as Chinatown, but I don't know if I can pull cash out of New York City's ATM's using a Visa debit card with the name of a Southern bank on it (this bank's not located up North). So, I don't know what to do. What if I get charged to use the ATM's up there?

Cash only for street vendors, but also remember you'll get a lot *less* than what you'll pay for. Those cheap knock-off purses will fall apart in your hands a lot faster than you think.

There's ATM's everywhere, even in little cafes, drugstores, some magazine stands. Your card will certainly be accepted, but these days it's very rare the bank that doesn't charge you for using another bank's machine, regardless if you're local or not.

NO cash only....just come up with about
$150 cash for the vender's if you want a lot of stuff..if you give them a card they'll probably laugh at you ,,figure out your not from NY and over charge you..and nothing there is real..don't pay over $20 bucks for any one thing..and don't look like a tourist..

Most likely you can use the ATMs.

On the back of your ATM card it may saying something like "Star' or "Mac" thats the ATM network its on.

Check the Networks web site and see.

99.9% chance that it will be accepted.

No street vendor excepts anything but cash! Dont give them your card.

ATMs should work for you worldwide, so New York should be no problem. You may get charged a fee to use them, though.
