How do you think a dad might feel about it. He is 1 year old. I have 2 daughters and do not know about little boys. I thought he might want to cuddle with it.

awwwwww he's still little so i think it would be ok to get him a raggedy andy doll. boys can have stuffed animals just like girls! my brother is 24 yrs old and still has most of his stuffed animals from growing up! i remember when my brother was 11-12 yrs old and for christmas he got a stuffed tiger and my mom took a picture of him, hugging it like he was a 2 yr old, LOL!

As far as it being a doll - I wouldn't have a problem - my two year old has his cuddle toys - Mr Monkey, Mrs. Cow, etc. An animal would be a little less threatening masculinity-wise then a Raggedy Andy, but it wouldn't bother me.

As for a present, by the time my son was one, he already had too many stuffed whatevers. One is a good time to think ahead on gifts. Other options:

Baby Einstein video/dvd
The book "Time for Bed" (simple, poetic lots of pictures)
I don't know what its called, but one of my son's favorites was a spiral tower thingy that you put a ball in the top and it spins down to the bottom...seemed silly, but between the colors the noise and the motion he loved it (no batteries!)

Uh, the Golliwog doll is the racist stereotype of Blacks from some time past. do somewhat study on issues like Little Black Sambo, or Blackface. So particular, the doll represents our racist previous. It has no longer something to do with notebook - it *IS* a racist image. Raggedy Andy, meanwhile, by no ability had any racist connotations.

Yeah, he's still a baby more than he is a boy at one year of age.

Don't sweat it now, unless the father has a cow...if so, correct *his* problem, not the little boy's.

Get him the doll, just say it's one more cuddle toy....don't worry about it. You needn't sweat it unless he gets soo hooked on it that he's dragging it to pre-school some 2-3 years later. ;)

I let my boys play with dolls. There's nothing wrong with it, if anything it teaches them to be better fathers. at least that's what I believe and I am the father. People seem to have stereotypes about what boys and girls should play with, truthfully i think all stereotypes should be lost they do no good. Boys can play with dolls just like girls can play with cars, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Play is the way young kids learn.

I think it's a great idea. If he were 3 or 4 it might not be such a good idea because by that age they know (or think they know) the difference between boy toys and girl toys. He might not like it then. But since he's only 1, I think it's perfectly fine and he will enjoy it :)

My brother had a fisher-price shopping cart when he was a toddler (my dad didn't quite approve) He is now a well adjusted, level headed young man with a good job,new wife and new home. Go for it, buy the darn doll..it won't hurt him :o)

We got my little son (2 yr old) a little doll, and he also does like to cuddle with stuffed toys, so I think's it okay.

Its fine I had one when I was a kid, that and a curious george. I would not see a problem with it all 3 of my boys have stuffed bears for the year they were born in and those bears sit on their beds and the sleep with them at night. Nothing wrong with it do it.
