Okay, so I'm 5'6" (and 11 years old) and I used to be the tallest one in my school. But now that I'm moving to middle school, I'm really anxious that people--espesially the teachers--will forget my age at times and expect me to know more than everyone else or the other students will treat me badly. Any advice?

Good point, norm, but it's not like I DON'T want to be tall. I just want to have respect for it.

Our middle son is going into middle school in September too. He also feels what you feel, with fears that the different school will be bad. I'll tell you the same thing we told our son: Don't worry. You will still have your same friends and you have the chance to meet new friends. The teachers know that you will be new at middle school and they will treat you the same as all the other students in your class. Don't feel that being tall (in his case, he is short for his age) will be bad. You are the way you are because God made you that way. Just be glad that you have your friends and your family to help you. If you need help, talk to your family and friends. I'll bet if you talked with your best friend he or she would tell you that they feel the same way. You will do great! Good luck in September!

I think you will be ok. I was 5'5" in middle school and I did not feel like that at all. Really I haven't grown anymore LOL and in high school I was one of the shorter ones especially after the guys started growing. I would not worry about it. If your middle school is anything like mine was, the grades really did not mix any so like the classes were either all 6th graders, all 7th gradres or all 8th graders. I think you will be just fine. Don't worry about it too much. Moving to a different school is always a little frightening but everyone makes it through ok.

You'll do fine. Just relax and be yourself. You'll find that it won't be like you think. The teachers know that some people are taller than others and just won't assume one thing or the other about you. So just have fun and learn and meet lots of new people.

You will be OK b/c I was always taller the rest of the students in my class as well. I was not treated any differently, I just always felt odd. One day, that will not be the case.

they arent going to think that just because of your height. they know you are 11 and will treat you like you are 11.
