I was told that they start usually 2 or more days after the teeth are pulled.

The reason they form is because the blood clot does not stay in the extraction site. This can be caused by smoking (the sucking in on the cigarette can suck the clot out), drinking through a straw, and swishing liquid around too much or too hard.

Good luck. I had dry sockets in all four of my wisdom teeth. They suck, hope you don't get them.

Trust me if you get a dry socket you will be in pain to the nnnntthhhh degree. Dry Sockets do not always occur. Do not worry about something that has not happened.

DON'T disturb those voids where your wisdom teeth once were. don't brush way back there and risk new bleeding and such, or eat hard candy or chewing gum.
