keep saying don't build a wall on the border, and that the only true Americans are the Native Americans? If the indians would have enforced their borders, we wouldn't be here either. To me, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to handle the illegal immigration issue. Just enforce the law.

Makes sense to me. But, instead of sending them back, so they can come back tomorrow, we should put them in jail for five years. That will stop them from coming.

illnovelist, if we built a wall with great technology and the national guard there, the number of illegals would go down dramatically. they wouldn't get through. Bush is pleasing Mexico by not building a wall, i think bush likes the illegals.
What you are saying is that you want Mexico to basically become a state.

I hate how people use the native american arguement.
"Well YOU ARE ILLEGALS because you stole this land from natives"

uhh no, I was born in USA and have every right to be here just like the natives.

"The European colonists were illegal immigrants too!!"
No they weren't, they were moving to a colony that their own country owned. So they were really still in their own country, but a different continent.

Anyways it is stupid to bring up the Native arguement. Native americans had no nations, they had small tribes that fought each other a lot (despite what many say), this is a nation and we must protect and secure it at all cost. If you really are using the native american arguement, you are either trapped in the past or are trying to escape the debate.

I believe building a wall and keeping illegals out/deporting them is good for America as well as Mexico. It may spark a mexican revolution/civil war and may actually clean that place up. Mexico should have more money and be wealthier than Canada. But unfortuantely, the corruption won't let them.

Actually, the Indians did enforce their borders. Unfortunately, bows and arrows weren't much of a match for the Europeans' horses and firearms.

The reason why people, myself included, do not think it's such a good idea to build a wall is because it's a waste of tax-payers' money. I mean, the Mexicans cram a thousand people into one little truck or they cross the desert just to work a crap job here in the US. You think a wall is going to stop them? Another reason why a wall shouldn't be built is because it signifies arrogance. Don't you remember the Berlin Wall and how happy everyone had been when it had been knocked down?(Leave it up to Bush to do everything backwards.)

What the President needs to do is find a quicker way to process Visas; plus, work on bettering Mexico so America won't get swamped with immigrants. But I don't really think the President cares all that much for Mexico, not when he's so into this very, very important war which will change the world as we know it. (LOL)

It is not helpful to go back in history, except where it may offer a better perspective. Some day there will be a "Schindlers List" movie about the many deaths caused by these border troubles. Eleven million illegal workers are often mentioned as an unworkable problem; but I disagree, it is only three percent of our population. We could give every one of them a bus pass to the interior of Mexico and save administative expense. Multiple crossers should be put to work de-mining San Nicholas Island or maybe the Chocolate Mountains. If they survive the year they should be sent home penniless. Employers should lose their business licenses; repeat offenders might clean highways for a year. This might increase local employment; if a business can't pay an honest wage, maybe it should just stop.

The wall won't stop people from wanting a better life! It will make it hard, but not impossible. Besides, even with a wall, there are 12 mln illegals who have to be dealt with somehow. Many of us pay taxes and contribute. We should be given a chance. I've done more for this country than ANY of your ancestors who came on a boat and had no education, paid no taxes, but got citizenship right away! Many didn't speak English!

Every nation has the right to protect their own land and people. People also have the right to express their opinions, being right or wrong.

If the U.S. wants to build a wall, then build it...if it's going to help the Mexicans stay here. Maybe that will actually help Mexico in a way, so they can also protest here.

I agree. We don't need more laws, we just need to enforce the ones we already have in place. That goes for a lot more than just immigration.

Confiscate any business that employs illegals--treason is not a property right. Declare martial law to stop this invasion; ignore court orders--treason is not a judicial privilege. The immigration criminals will knock down any wall in their stampede out of here. Let them run for their lives, unless you want economic traitors to run our lives.

When prohibition was created (making alcohol illegal) and enforced, it just strengthened the Mobs in this country and created a huge amount of crime and violence. Sometimes it is just better to leave things the way they are (like Iraq).
