we must have balance in our schools, religion is everywhere in our society.walk around outside, and tell me, how many different people you run into.9 times out of 10, you will run into a person who has a different faith, (value system) then you do. look at our architecture, and tell me, how religion has shaped our buildings. look at our paintings, and show me, how religion has impacted paintings. look at atheism, and show me, how this religion is shaping our culture.religion is a part of everything and anything. i prefer to have our kids learn about Christianity, and other religions in school, so he can make up his own mind, rather then someone pushing religion on him, while on the outside.
God Bless

Are you atheist? What do you have against the bible? Not all school books are completely accurate.Nobody argues that the earth doesn't revolve around the sun,and who says the earth is flat anymore? The bible doesn't.In fact there are some references in the bible that says the earth is rounded and spherical. The bible and school books work hand in hand to get a better understanding of God's creations.Nobody is forcing your child or children to read the bible.

Bible study need not interfere with any other studies that your son is engaged in. The Bible was never intended to be the sole source of knowledge for anyone. The Bible is the sole source of knowledge about God, his plan for humankind and the walk that he desires people to have in life. The Bible does not teach everything that a person needs to know. It does teach some of the most important things that a person needs to know. Jesus loves you and your son. Let your son make up his mind about what he wants to believe. Ultimately, he is responsible for his own beliefs and actions. Prison ministry is a part of my work. I also work with mentally disturbed people. I don't think that you want your son falling into either one or both of these categories. A little Bible study every day just might keep him out of the trouble, sorrows and misery that I had to go through as a young man. God bless you both.

I think it's important to remember that you can view the Bible as a history book. Why do we assume that history books are non-religious. The Bible shows the history from that time, and told of their motivation for doing things they did. How is the story of Noah's Ark different that Hitler's Holocaust ? The Bible tells one story, history books tell the other story, and the jist is the same. Noah built an ark because that's what God told him to do. Hitler exterminated people, cuz he wanted to make the "perfect" race. Why should we tell some stories and not others? I'm not saying ur kid should read the Bible, but people shouldn't be looked down on for doing something they believe in. It makes the world unique.

I really do not understand your question. The Bible doesnt have anything to do with what youre saying about history books and science.
Science teaches different types of theories and history teaches about different people in the past.... why shouldnt the Bible be one of those books that children are allowed to read then?? The Bible is a history book in itself, right?

Yes, as well as all science books, math books, geography books, anything at all that might cause the children to question the bible! Because asking questions is dangerous! To be safe, they better remove all books that aren't the bible. That's the only book they really need anyway. Even if they aren't christian, they should only be allowed to read the bible, but not be allowed to ask any questions. And anyone who expresses independent thought must be ritualistically burned at the stake. Logic and reasoning are tools of the devil!

no,
we can have both, just like in private catholic schools.
we can study the history of the world while studying our relation to god. Its been done for ages, and its being done now with no problem.
oh and for your info, the bible says nothing about flat earths or earth rotating around the sun. Maybe you should pick one up and read for yourself for a change. The bible isn't what you think. It isn't science.

The bible is an accurate historical narrative, archeology has confirmed this, however, the bible reveals moral truths that people should follow. That is what seperates it from a history book. People feel insecure when they discover that some of their habits are wrong, so they reject the bible as a book of myths. A history book is just compilation of events occured in the past, nothing beyond that.

Bibles used to be used as a text book in the public schools. They did no one harm back then, what would the harm be if used today too? It teaches love, forgiveness and a positive message from a loving God. The Bible is historical as well, it's stories are now being proved as authentic to historians of all walks of life.

It would be nice if your son would read the bible. But I would be satisfied if the schools would just be fair. Evolution is taught and it is not a fact, just a theory. So why are so many people afraid to teach other theories? There are more facts established to ID than evolution. Do some research if you are interested in the facts, and the truth. Or can you handle the truth?

Of course. We can't let the heathens teach the children about the sun because they might worship it or something. Yea and no history too. The only things kids need to learn is how to stone prostitutes.
