I have been having seizures for 19 years now they started out with being hard to learning on my own yes I have doctors but have they had seizures far and between.
So I had to find away to control them during all this I fought them from taking part of my memory.
So I started doing different things like focusing on one thing instead of five.
See seizures are cause from to much on the mind at one time doctors told me it was because I had bumped my head see it a guessing game to them it takes someone to learn how to work the mind.
I will explain make sure you son takes his medicine first of all always Okay when he feels abnormal tell him to not try to talk just get someone attention by throwing something down to make noise are waving the best way he can than!!!
Focus on something if that one thing don't work than get him to focus on something else fast theres no time to waste, pencil. book, picture what ever the mine thing is to get only one thing on his mind not 4 or 5 Okay!!
I have learn myself from going into 4 or 5 a week to 1 or 2 ever 3 or 4 years mind over matter, mind over matter remember that.
The person he gets attention from someone let him know before hand of this also but talk lightly to him in a seizure talk about the moon are something get him focus if you notice I keep going back to being focus [ because this is the key the only key ].
To bring himself out of the begainning of the seizures once he works a few out tell him to keep working on it, one more thing if he can try to never go to the ground hold on to someone the wall what ever try to NEVER hit the ground.
So there two things for him to do FOCUS on one thing to distract him off the seizures & fight back stand up he can when this all will not stop at one time but it will help 95% of the time once he learn to controll.
One more thing [ I won't to tell you theres bad pain having seizures always pray and when he wakes up just keep him cool with a wet rag he will come back its a slow proceess ] Good Luck.
==EDIT==
I go to sleep right after a seizure its good because when I come out of one I'm weak , bad headaches, and cannot walk good the rest after one for me is sleeping and resting.
A seizures is very painful and it's hard to focus without rest also.
For sure a person should sleep that will be ok the seizures has pass but if they are consist'nt I would sleep on my side, so I would not choke.
With the "sson" in your question I thought somebody was talking about there son so what I want to do is leave my other answer above because it very helpful for people who have seizures to also learn to controll them I know this first hand I live with this daily. ICHOOSETOTELLTHETRUTH

After any seizure a person is usually exhausted and they'll fall asleep anyway. You don't need to keep them awake. Unless there is some sort of injury.

Unless the person got a concussion from convulsions, immediately - they'll be exhausted from it most likely.
Why COULDN'T you let them sleep?
