On the mythbusters the other day they had a few different home remedies they tried to get rid of poison ivy. None of them worked near as good as an over the counter drug intended for it.

Go to a place with a pharmacy like a grocery store or walgreens and get some ointment. It worked best for Adam and Jaime!!

YOu can't get rid of it, but you can make it less irritable

FIRST if the poison ivy touched anything else besides you... clothing, furniture, backpacks, your dogs whatever - WASH THEM ASAP. If the oil of the ivy rubbed off onto any of these things and you continue to touch them you will get more outbreaks.

You can use a topical cream or gel - benadryl makes one with the ingredients Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride

I suggest the gel, the cream dries up to quickly and irritates it more.

Benadryl pills as an antihistamine can also help the itching. Oatmeal baths, like Aveeno can do wonders to relieve the skin. The key is to keep your skin moisurized, as drying it out creates more itching.

The combo of Benadryl pills, gel and oatmeal baths will really do wonders.

Dont scratch!! Keep it clean. Buy Poison Ivy medicine to keep on it. Take Cool showers it helps. But it has to go away on its own. You can help it by leaving it alone

if you have it on your neck or above you should go to the doctor
if it is really bad you should go to the doctor
if you are worried about it you should go to the doctor
there are creams you may pick up at a drugstore-i suggest getting ones that rub in (they look nicer) but these creams may smell strange to you
for best results, unless it is very little, i would go to the doctor and have him/her give you a prescription-it helps alot
if you choose to use the creams and it doesnt seem to help or it gets worse go to the doctor
do not scratch it, it will make it worse and cause pain, and you could scratch it open making it possible to spread it to other areas on your body or to other people
if it is oozing do not touch it or touch other people wash your hands and clothes and anything that touches it
be careful, and like i said going to the doctor is your best bet
good luck!

If it's on your skin, take a Benadryl and put caldryl lotion on it to dry it up. If it's in your yard use roundup.
