This is a really smart idea. This is not extreme- what part of contracting an illness that has no cure would make sleeping with someone that is infected worth it? No sex is worth that risk, not even the best sex. My guy and I did this, for the main reason that if you love and care about yourself as well as your partner, you want to be sure that you wont cause that individual any harm or pain, and passing along a life-threatening illness would not be a loving or responsible thing to do.
Bottom line: requesting the you and your partner get tested before having sex is a smart and safe way to protect yourself from contracting an illness such as HIV or STDs, and if that person has nothing to hide then getting tested should not be a big deal. Also, you deserve to be happy and healthy, and insisting on protecting yourself is never extreme. If you dont protect yourself, who will protect you?

I agree with the condom thing. ALWAYS use condoms, and ALWAYS ask before sleeping with a new person whether or not they have or were ever exposed to someone with an STD. My ex (daughter's father) has Hepatitis B and didn't bother to tell me till a year into the relationship. Thankfully, I had the Hep B vaccination series before I met him, and I was lucky enough not to get infected. Now because of that, I tell any guy I may end up sleeping with that I was exposed to it, but do not have it.

Its a sad thing to say but in this day and age...Why Not ...condoms brake...there are so many things out there to catch...and not all are cured with a pill...You would have less to worry about if both are tested ...you need to be safe...if the guy or girl has nothing to worry about they may even feel better if you both are tested...I am 45 and would never think about having sex with someone who would not be tested...for MY own peace of mind...AND ALWAYS WEAR A CONDOM.....

Yes I do. Because 1 in 4 people have an STD. 80% of people have herpes. And I want none of the above.
You think it won't be you... thats what everyone thinks.
