The more countries the US attacks, the more enemies it has, the more enemies it has the more it needs to spend on weapons and the military, the more it spends on weapons and the military the more it needs to use those weapons and military, the more wars there will be

He's five foot-two, and he's six feet-four,
He fights with missiles and with spears.
He's all of thirty-one, and he's only seventeen,
Been a soldier for a thousand years.

He'a a Catholic, a Hindu, an Atheist, a Jain,
A Buddhist and a Baptist and a Jew.
And he knows he shouldn't kill,
And he knows he always will,
Kill you for me my friend and me for you.

And he's fighting for Canada,
He's fighting for France,
He's fighting for the USA,
And he's fighting for the Russians,
And he's fighting for Japan,
And he thinks we'll put an end to war this way.

And he's fighting for Democracy,
He's fighting for the Reds,
He says it's for the peace of all.
He's the one who must decide,
Who's to live and who's to die,
And he never sees the writing on the wall.

But without him,
How would Hitler have condemned him at Dachau?
Without him Caesar would have stood alone,
He's the one who gives his body
As a weapon of the war,
And without him all this killing can't go on.

He's the Universal Soldier and he really is to blame,
His orders come from far away no more,
They come from here and there and you and me,
And brothers can't you see,
This is not the way we put the end to war

This next one will. It'll be the last. It'll be over before you know it, too.

I appreciate the sentiment, but it's a bit misplaced. There's questions about what's being done NOW. I too mistrust the intent of our current leaders, but the original reasons for military force were more than justified. Take the USS cole in yemen, embassies in Saudi Arabia, Zaire, Nairobe, the first WTC bombing, 911. Other than a few impotent missile strikes. Not fighting back is seen by many as a weekness, and becomes an invitation to attack. There's a time when "enough's enough" Not fighting back's the greater evil.
In the past, the loudest objectors became good pals the instant they were attacked by a greater foe. They do so, knowing we'll defend friends who're unable to defend themselves. If it's sometimes a benefit to us too, should we then do nothing?
To fight back means one's already at war. A pre-emptive strike is to fight enemy you know means you harm. To demand peace until someone attacks and kills our people is nothing short of murder. Such a person does'nt deserve the liberties he's given at birth.
I know ya don't mean it like I explained, so ain't attackin ya. It's just that too many people get duped by the pretty sentiment in the "war to prevent war" paradox. It's wishful thinking in the most deadly form. Being the "big kid" on the block guarantees resentment, Having inaction demanded on us because we're a powerful nation is akin to demanding submission to a rapist, cause the victim has a larger penis than the rapist.

Okay, you want war to stop, we can blow the earth up several thousand times over. That oughta stop it. War is a sad part of human nature. Some things ARE worth fighting for, but often times, the things that are worth fighting for are forgotten by all except those who are actually doing the fighting. The politicians sending down the orders, however, only use those reasons to fight as a catalyst to draw popular support, and make themselves look good. Then, after that, its a race for political glory. The ones on the front lines know what THEY are there for, even if their higher-ups and the media forget!

Although this isn't really a question, yes, war can stop war. Dozens of times in history, wars of reunification have stopped hundreds of years of civil strife and brought order and peace to the lands. Rome brought about the Pax Romana through war, conquering the "barbarian tribes". Greece formed the Delian League and ended Persian invasions, at least for a while. The Qin emperor united hundreds of warring civil states and formed Qin China.

Peace does not stop war in the real world. I am sorry to throw some reality on your idealistic illusions, but peaceful action has never prevented aggressors from killing and murdering.

Hmmm if someone came into your house to kill you and rape the women in your family and don't do anything you could stop further violence to YOUR family because the crime will have already been commited. If you shoot him then you will have stopped him from commiting the crime to you and your family and future crimes by that man.
In order to have peace, you to have people who are willing to stop being violent. When you have people killing thousands of people just because they don't believe the way they do, they must be stopped. If you let them take over... then there will be peace but then you will be restricted to what they believe only. In a Democracy, you can believe what you want without getting your head cut off.
I don't agree that a soldier for the terrorists is the same as an American soldier as the song suggests. Terrorists kill innocents on purpose as policy and the other kills or captures terrorists to stop them.

nothing stops war, war makes money! War is just an excuse to pump $$$$$$$$$$ into the Treasury because the emergency needs it. Ask bush! First commies, then oil ,sorry Saddam, then chem. weapons, later terrorism, next is nuclear bomb in hands of Iran.... it will never stop. The US is not to blame as the inventor of this war economy.Where will the poor or middle class go to find a job in the ambivalent economy that we live in. Guaranteed pay, food, benefits, health ins. etc. Check your history! If you are a believer in the Word of God, it will only stop when the fat lady sings.(irony)

You whole premise is bullcrap. So's the song.

Properly executed, war ends war. The other options are defeat and surrender.

But here's the real question: What is it that causes war?

Conflict between nations causes war. When a difference arises, and neither side will back down, the bullets begin flying. Brave men rush to the front, cowards stay in the rear and scream, 'Stop it!'

Of course the basis of your question is pondering whether war is right or wrong - with the forgone conclusion that it is wrong. War is horrible, terrible, evil, and vile; and the men who fight in them get dirty. For the most part they are not themselves evil, but the characteristics of a war-fighter cling to them, and the smell of a soldier scares 'civilized' people.

War is wrong if your intentions in waging it are to kill, steal, destroy, and enslave peaceful people. War is justified if your goal is to stop aggression and/or protect, liberate, and secure peaceful people.

Iran seeks to export Islamic Jihad worldwide. They want us all enslaved in Sharia Law. They want our women and children to have no rights - to be property. They want to completely eliminate the Jewish race. They want men to be subservant to religious leaders and the vast majority of the population to be illiterate. This is what this war is about - we are resisting this effort to subject the world to this slavery.

Iraq and Afghanistan were and are justifiable actions in their own right. But, they are only strategic battles in the overall plan. Iran must abandon its goals, and Islam must accept the existance of Israel or Teheran must fall. Either that or we must accept genocide. Are you willing to sit back and watch a nation be massacred in order to have the comfort of a false 'peace' in your lifetime? Are you willing to watch all the advancement of mankind over the last two centuries go down in flames so you can sit and enjoy your TV show without the guilt of knowing you are not doing your part?

A simple answer to that question is, no. But your question does not address self defense. Self defense is a basic human right. We can't sit on our fat butts and say, "Hey everybody, stop fighting"! You must take a side. Get in on the fight and take a stand. Whatever stand it is. But by not fighting, you have not taken a side, and you have already lost the fight. You follow?

Are you asking a question or making a statement?

Seen Ghadafi funding terrorism lately? A few bombs seem to have changed his mind.

World war II - would you not have fought it?

Russian missiles based in Cuba - would you have said go ahead that's OK?

If you see someone who is about to step in front of a fast moving truck and don't stop them do you not then have a role in their death?

How many people have to die before it is worth doing something to stop it?

Why do so many Americans ask questions like this and then ask why America is not respected or liked.

the only war that will stop all wars will be a nuclear war
after that
there will be nothing to fight for because it will be the end of man kind
and after 10,000 years evolution will begin again, till it evolves to a point of war again so there will always be war on earth until there is no life left to fight over stupid things leading to war

Victory DOES stop war. Remember that peace is not the absence of war, it is merely when the conquerors have the power to silence their enemies.
