The idea that God killed himself to pay himself the price for violating the rules he invented is a ridiculous concept.
It is truly amazing how so many otherwise intelligent people actually believe it to be true.

The bible isn't known just as a bible, but as recorded historical events. We believe the recorded historical events that we're taught in school, so why is it that the bible is so hard to believe? Because people want proof... I cannot, of myself, prove the bible is the truth any more than I can prove Columbus discovering America is the truth... I wasn't there to see it for myself & it could've been Simon Garfunkel who discovered it for all I know, but can only say that the Holy Spirit within is proof enough for me that the bible is true. As far as Jesus doing some kicking, there's an old saying that proves to be true>>> you can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar. As far as the end-time killing is concerned>>> 2nd Thessalonians 2:3 teaches... Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition.

You apprently are a "natural man" and don't understand why Jesus died. When Adam sinned and the entire human race fell with him (we were all in his loins) death was the result for the wages of sin is death. The only way this could be cancelled was for One who was perfect and without sin to die as a sacrifice. I'm sure this sounds crazy to you because unless you have been born again and have heard and understood the gospel, it will not make sense.
Jesus could have refused but He willingly gave His perfect life to pay the sin debt of humanity.
When He came the first time, it was to call and save sinners.
When He comes again, in all HIS GLORY and POWER, it will be to judge the wicked. I suggest you start reading the bible and hoping you will ber drawn to Christ by the Father. John 6:44
He does the choosing. And the heart is the bottom line with Him.

If Jesus was the Son of God, he would not kill people, he would be full of love, as the Bible describes God. Jesus says the greatest way someone can show their love is by laying down his life for his friends. Jesus could have avoided crucifixion, however he wanted to die because of his love for us.
The old testament teaches that sin must be paid with death, that is why the jewish priests had to perform animal sacrifices--they would place their sins on a spotless lamb then sacrifice it.
In the same way, Jesus was sinless, so by putting our faith him, God judges Jesus's immaculate life instead of ours, and our sins can be forgiven.
Many people dont understand this and confuse and distort christianity to make it seem like pointless drivel, when in reality it can be very complex.

No. Many of the stories were added by a Jewish man named Saul, aka St. Paul later who happened to kill thousands upon thousands of Christians before he apparently converted to Christianity. He introduced the concept of Zeus son of Apollo into Christianity to destroy it from within. The Bible is full of Islamic prophesies. One that I recall is in genesis ~from the seed of Ishmael I will create a great nation and from him 12 princes will be descendant of. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was the only one to claim to be from prophet Ishmael plus he had 12 righteous descendants, as also stated in bukhari. The Bible also says that false prophets will not be successful but in the not to far off future, Islam will be the largest religion in this planet. Plus prophet Abraham and prophet Ishmael build the Kaba, and prophet Ishmael is buried there beside the building. Note, prophet Jesus did not have a father and was born of a Virgin Mary with the spirit, but prophet Adam had neither a mother or father and was made of the spirit without any previous human connection. If prophet Jesus brought the dead person to life, prophet Moses brought an inanimate piece of wood into a snake which is more miraculous. What is the miracle of Prophet Muhammad (SAW)? A Book, the Holy Qur'an, unchanged with proof for 1400 years, what other book can claim this? And if you think it was just good book keeping, there is a verse there claiming that God will protect the Holy Qur'an from any changes. Also the banned Bible according to St. Barnabas clearly states that Prophet Muhammad (SAW) will come after prophet Jesus.

The story of Jesus is true. He came to be and to set the standard that we might follow his life and teachings as a guidline to our lives. Jesus is the way the truth and the life as quoted in John 14:16. He is the answer to all our problems! Jesus said be angry and sin not, which is hard to do. Jesus does not dislike the person he dislikes the sin that they are involved in. I believe what he says and believe he is the true Messiah. I am a Christian. If I am wrong then I have nothing to lose but if you are wrong and are not a Christian then you have everything to lose.

Let me put it this way. If you were God, and you are loving, so much that you want everyone to hang out with you, wouldn't you do what you could to get them to your house? Let's say nobody had the money to buy a bus ticket, and that was the ONLY way to get to your house. You would pay out for the tickets if you had a way.
That's what Jesus did. We are human, and we aren't perfect. So call it sin or whatever, it keeps us from being witha perfect God, who is totally good. The price of our sins, is death, in a spiritual way. Jesus died, and pays the price of that death, but, not only does he pay the price, he beats death, and shows that the ticket price is paid, but also refunded. He knows he gets back to life, why should he defend himself?
And, by the way, I am a chemist.

Matthew 26:53-54
53 Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels? 54 How then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen thus?”
Jesus could have easily gotten away, or defeated them all. But He chose not to, because He knew that if He didn't suffer FOR you, YOU would have to suffer for your own sins. He died because He wanted people like you and me to be able to receive salvation. And, by the way, the next time He comes back will be the time when He wars against those who absolutely refuse Him.

It makes no sense to me either. The god of the old testament did kick butt, sodom, gamora, plagues of egypt. But not jesus. Also the god of the old testament talked out loud to people, not jesus. I've come to realize that religious beliefs aren't subject to the same logical reasoning everything else is. Religious people act like they're trying to reason, but they really aren't.
Fanmail, you once took a beating to spare your little brother. Well, jesus is god, and GOD is the one that's going to punish people, so it would be like you taking a beating yourself so that YOU wouldn't beat your little brother. Why not just NOT BEAT him WITHOUT taking the beating? I realize this is tough, think logically about religion.
Brad, you say Jesus, son of god would not kill people???? Have you read the old testament? THAT god killed lots of people, like in the flood!

The whole point of Jesus' death was to prove that He is more than you and me, He is God!
So why didn't he do some butt kicking, because He is perfect and better than you and me! Because He is the rightous son of God!
And Yes it is true he died on the cross.
God Loves YOU

Yes, I believe it it true. Jesus could've stopped them from torturing and killing Him, but He didn't. He died on the cross and went to hell for 3 days, even though He had never sinned. He did that so we wouldn't have to pay the penalty for our sins--death. God will not let anyone that's unclean get into heaven, and we're are unclean because we've sinned. But because Jesus died on the cross for us, He made a way for us to be cleansed. We can repent and ask for forgiveness, and He will give it to us. Jesus died on the cross for YOU, to give you a way to spend eternity with Him. Because He loves you more than you can imagine.
