I begin by asking myself if I want the truth. My answer is yes.
Even if it hurts or wipes out your previous beliefs?
If I want the truth then I should automatically say yes, right?
There's a slight hesitation at this point but my answer is still yes.
I liken this to a patient who needs a vaccination. Not a pleasant venture but you know and believe that the medication will either improve a sick condition or help maintain an already healthy one.
I am a Christian turned Muslim and one of the first questions that I asked in my search for the truth was 'what is religion?'
Simply put, it is a way of life; the way one lives life based on beliefs and practices. I realized with further study that any belief or practice can be considered a religion. Think about it. If you've followed the same routine constantly for a considerable length of time, it would be said that you follow this routine religiously.
My question after that was, What was Christ's religion? There's no way that he was a Christian.

A definition I herd goes like this -
A religion is set of rules that man must follow to earn (work) his way into heaven.
Christianity is not a religion because the Bible says that we can not earn (make ourselves good enough) our way into heaven. It is a gift from God (we must ask to be forgiven and do what He told us in the Bible) so that we can not boast about our selves.

No its a relationship with God, man has put manmade laws on top of the relationship because of how they interpret the Word. Therefore man feels like they are more holier since they follow these coulda, shoulda, woulda's.

It's a religion, but it's not a race of people, therefore it has no validation as anything more than a society of lost people

Obviously yes. And incidentally it is the best sure profit business idea ever invented by man: minimum manpower, no machines, just talk and imagination, lots of them to prosper more.

Christianity is a religion but it does not promote religiousness.
Give up your creeds and ritualistic reciting and speak to God, one on one.
