If I hear a "booming voice from the sky" and am told it's God and that I should go out and massacre people, what should I do?

Thank you, 'no cassanova'. Clearly you take yourself FAR too seriously. You would never consider that IF there were a God that an atheist would make the "perfect prophet"?

It was a VERY serious question.

If it was good enough for Abraham why isn't it good enough for me? Besides, what ever happened to "God works in mysterious ways"? How do any of you (Christians) know that it wouldn't be the true voice of God? If you aren't supposed to question 'His will' then what are you to do???

Please re-read my question, your own responses and consider the actions taken during The Inquisition. Granted, no "booming voices" were reported, but it does stink of "will of god" and killing en masse... What do you make of that? It was all done in the name of "God". The were "obeying" 'His' will...

Have your hearing tested and a full physical and mental health workup.

That's what I would do. The voice would not be of God.

But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. Galatians 1:8-9

Massacre is not part of the gospel.

You should ignore it because God would not tell you to do that so it must be an imposter. Many beings and people try to imitate God. If you hear a voice and it is truly God, then you will know it is Him. You should do what He says but you probably won't like it. God doesn't give us easy tasks to do.

If that happened to me, I wouldn't beleive it to be god.

It would have to be a trick becuz he would never tell you to do something like that for no reason.

In the bible however, he did instruct isrealites to kill all of the people in the land canaan for they were wicked. and he also told them that they would forever be a thorn in their side if they didn't. They didn't do it, and look at today.

But if that happened to me, I wouldn't trust it. And if it was really him and his will, It would happen whether I agreed or not, and thats how I would know if it was for real. Remember, moses never wanted to lead his people out of egypt at first, god spoke to him and he refused to beleive it was god. so he ran, but it was god and he ended up doing it anyways.

God is Love, and HE would not tell you to massacre,kill, assault others. We are to forgive and pray for our enemiies. Any other voices that tell you to harm another person, that is not GOD 's voice that is Satan's!!!
