My bf and i are each other first love and sex partner. We started using this method when we were 8th month together. Now, about 2 years plus.... He always "pull out" when he has the slightest feeling that he is going to 'come' and he would go on to masturbate. We have sex quite frequently and adapted this method since he don't want to put me into the side effects of BC pill. I suggested the use of condoms but we both are too shy to get :( We plan and save $$$ to get married in another 2 years time, so i would not want to get the baby now. Plus, i have heard of the BC patch. Does it works?

Pulling out is about the most unreliable form of birth control next to not pulling out and just hoping pregnancy won't occur. If you are both too shy to purchase condoms, you have no business having sex. Until you are ready to handle it maturely and responsibly, keep your legs crossed and his pants zipped. It's a BIG deal and serious life-changing repercussions can occur from the foolishness you two are currently participating in.
Side effects from pregnancy tend to be more severe than those from birth control. Talk to your doctor about the pros and cons of the pill, the shot, the patch, diaphagms, etc (all the options), find one right for you, and USE IT please.

I got this from a book:
Method / Failure Rate with Pertect Use - Failure Rate with Typical Use
Pill / 0.1% - 3%
Male Condom / 3% - 12%
Withdrawal / 4% - 19%
Unprotected / 85% - 85%
Why don't you want to be on the Pill? Have you had side effects from if before? I've been on the pill for a long time and have never had any problems. Actually, I like the side effects I've gotten, my period is so regular now that I know almost exactly when I'm going to get it; every 4 weeks on Tuesday between 2pm and 7pm.

You need to be using protection. There are still fluids, like preejaculatory fluid that can get inside of you and some of it can contain sperm. The 'pull out" method is not safe when it comes to preventative measures for a baby. You need to be on birth control if you are going to be having unprotected sex. Its a must. You dealing with hot water when it comes to unprotected sex anytime, especially with not being on Brith Control. And honestly if you all are too shy to go and buy protection, then you probably should not be having sex. Sex requires a certain level of responsibility. Using protection is part of being responsible. Good luck and please be safe!

Why take the chance..? so far the answers are all saying it is taking a serious risk.. consider this worthy advice :) .. Protect yourself.. from pregnancy.. and STD's .. unless you and your partner have both been tested 3 times in the last 6 months.. and not had any sexual encounter with anyone else during that time.. some STD's take 6 months to show up in a test..
To not protect yourself.. you are at great risk.
Like I said.. Why take the chance?

Safe in what regard? Against getting an STD or HIV or pregnant? There is still a good chance of getting pregnant with withdrawal method as pre-*** will still ooze out before ejaculation and you can get pregnant from the sperm it contains. Same for STD and HIV, no guarantee of not getting a disease.

Withdrawal can still result in both pregnancy and std's.... In pregnancy... a man doesn't just expell sperm during climax but thoughout arousal and it only takes one sperm to get pregnant... this isn't something people tell you to scare you... one of my dearest freinds has a 5 year old daughter who was concieved when she and her husband (boyfriend at the time) were using that method. It's the same thing with STD's it's the bodily secretions that carry the STD's not just the climax.... So please be careful... Absentance is always the best but if you choose to have sex... Use protection... and talk to your partner... if you've had multipule partners get tested... both of you please... Take care of yourselves....

Very unsafe. If you're trying to avoid pregnancy, pre ejaculatory fluids can still get you pregnant. This occurs early during to course of sex and he feels no sensation when it happens, so you won't know when it happens. Also, STD's can still be transmitted even if you pull out.

It does not prevent anything, it only makes the participants of sex feel better at the time and then feel lousy when the female comes up pregnant!

Not very safe at all.... there is "pre-***" before he actually pulls out... throw on a condom or the pill.
Watch out for all those STDs...
