call the airline. they have to clear it with the security at the airport. The person picking them up will need information as if they were boarding a plane, and without a ticket they will need the clearance from the airport and that needs to be done way ahead of time. The airline people will escort your son off the plane to the person standing at the gate waiting. You just need to make sure that person has clearance to get down there.
Definately take care of that today, because you are really late to get it done.

I recommend calling the other airport to find out for sure. I'm sure the other party will need a valid I.D. for one. I'm sure you're a little nervous about the whole thing, which is understandable. Blessings to you and your little boy. As a habit I ask God for safety in travel, and I am asking that for your boy.
The internet is a great place to get detailed info on almost anything. You can check the policies of the receiving airport online, if they're available. Otherwise a phone number is probably available for you to call. Customer service can direct you. Often the airports have toll-free numbers which you can get from 1-800-555-1212. 411 will get you the toll number you may have to call.
Please see the following website for more info about airline safety for minors. Blessings, Buttercup

The person who is picking him up will be identified at the gate by YOU. Name and phone number... on their end valid ID. They will go to the ticket counter and get a gate pass to pick up the unaccompanied minor. It's all very easy... and they are more than happy to help you and him in the airport, at the gate and on the plane.

Pay the extra money and get the flight attendant to help them to and from their gate. Went through this last year w/ my dayghter (15) she missed her flight and was wandering around O'Hare and wound up spending the night there before she could catch another flight to my sister's. I didn't know that you had to PAY a flight attendant to do this and wasn not informed of that by the airlines. It would have saved a LOT of stress and worry on my part if I'd been told about this and I would have gladly paid the extra $50.

Tell them the time the flight gets in and ask for them to get there a little early. Tell your son if there is a problem, ask airport staff to contact you and let you know how he's doing.

We have done this before and the receiving party only needs identification as to who you have said is recieivng the child
such as name address phone number etc. THis has to be given to the airlines before they will accept your child as an unaccompanied passenger

give the other person a description of his(ur sons) clothes and u should give ur son the name of the other person just in case they don't find each other. Or ask about a stewardess who could accompany ur son till he will be found..
