before you curl,comb some mouse into the section of hair you are curling. the curl stays longer and is more curly.

If you want to use the curling iron on your hair but you are worried about damamge or you just want the curls to look better and last longer then use a spray in gel ..lightly spray on section you are going to curl. You will find it defines the curl more, eliminates the flyaways, and the curls last twice as long

condition your hair thoroughly first and once that is done put hint of styling gel or mouse before you curl and spread it evenly until the ends. but sparingly, which is very important as a lot of gell would just make strands go hard when it should be light and bouncy.
then curl. and after wards use good hold hairspray to keep it in place for good measure.

b4 u curl ur hair i would just wash it out n put shampoo n conditioner...then after put moose // get n a lil bit of hair spray to keep it from frizzing.

biologe thermal setting spray before and kenra volume spray after. works great and the setting spray is also a heat protectant.

some gel
but not to much
itll make it all stift
use a light styling gel
and hairspray it afterwards
