Pool water contains chlorine and will over time turn the hair green.
There are steps you can take to prevent this from happening...
1. Wet your hair before you get into the pool with non pool water. Doing do will even out the porosity of your hair making the chlorine unable to grab onto the hair. Do this every time you get into the pool with dry hair.
2. Use a leave-in conditioner after swimming. Chlorine is drying to the hair increasing the hairs porosity. The leave in conditioner will prevent over drying of the hair.

the old wives tales are true... it will turn and shade of yellow green if you expose to the chlorine for a long time....
before you get into the pool, rinse your hair with salt water... it will soak into the hair and stay there so less chlorine will soak in... minimize getting your hair in the pool water.... tie it up in a cute bun after rinsing w salt water and go for neck down only swimming.
good luck and have fun....
on a side note... many people don't use chlorine in the pools anymore... they use a saline cleaner ... which is basically salt water... if your pool party host is using the new saline stuff instead of the old chlorine type... no worries... your hair will be fine and probably ultra shiny afterwards. ask your host what the pool is maintained with to make sure but you can probably tell... we all know what chlorine smells like... ick! saline will smell different.

Chlorine water is known to turn blonde hair green. It may also dry out your hair if you recently got highlights, so the night after you swim in the pool, take a shower and be sure to use a healthy conditioner.

I would suggest you use extreme caution. I don't know about highlights, but years ago, the next day after a perm, I went to a pool party... and my hair was absolutely fried. I went back to my hairdresser and she gave me a conditioner that helped a bit, but not enough. I just had to wait for it to grow out again.

OH GOD...it may turn it green. Look put some conditioner on it before going in and pin it up if you can. Some gals use vasaline. I wouldn't wet it with chlorine unless I wanted to look like a lizard.

It will turn blond hair green, natural or bleached. You can use product that you put in your hair before you swim to protect it from turning green. You can ask your hairdresser to recommend something for you.
