Gastric bypass surgery without changes in lifestyle will expose you to unnessary risks associated with the procedure and will ultimately NOT be successful in helping you to get healthy and fit.

What I do:
I incorporate more fruit into my diet. Simply, I eat an apple before my lunch and before my dinner. That way I'm less likely to eat more fattening substances and I'm also less likely to snack between meals. The fiber in apples is also great for helping your body to flush fat and toxins out of your body.
I also eat a salad with lunch and with dinner. The salad does many of the same things that the apple does. However, I DON'T use fatty dressings like bleu cheese. I DO use in moderation Italian dressings and vinegrettes as they contain monosaturate oils which are the good fats your body needs...and they taste infinitely better than the highly processed so-called low fat dressings.
I eat vegetables. Find some green veges that you like and make those a part of your meals.
Lean meats are excellent for protein while being low in fat.
I tend not to snack as I'm full from my meals. If I do snack, I try to make it something healthy like maybe carrots and low fat dip, or fruit.
Consult your doctor before beginning to exercise. Any weight loss program that does NOT include exercise is DOOMED TO FAIL.
You have to get your body moving. Find things you can do that you enjoy doing, and that you can do even on those days when you just have to grit your teeth and do it.
Also, don't pay so much attention to your scale. If you are exercising, you may build some muscle...which actually will make you weigh heavier on the scale(Muscle weighs more than fat.). Forget the scale. Focus instead on things like: how do I feel? how do I look? Can I get into clothes that I couldn't before? That kind of thing.
Finally, be patient and forgiving. You didn't get overweight overnight, it took time. And, it will take time to get to the size you want to be. And, be forgiving: you will "fall off the wagon." Forgive yourself and get back on the wagon as quickly as you can. It's not a failure to slip up; it's only a failure if you give up.
Good luck. You can be the person you want to be in the body you want to have. I would suggest you try non-surgical methods of change before you attempt surgical means. However, I reiterate: if you do choose surgery, your success will depend greatly upon your willingness to change your lifestyle for the better.

Unless you are morbidly obese, 100 or more pounds over weight, you should not even consider gastric bypass. Any surgery has risks and there appear to be some long term problems being encountered by people after gastric bypass. Being full figured is not a bad thing at all, it does not imply over weight. If you really want to lose weight and change your body, see your doctor and work out a good diet and exercise program that works for you.

I had the lap-band surgery, and feel great about it. this is the least invasive surgery. if you have a lot to lose, the gastric is the fastest, however, because it is so fast, you would need to exercise A LOT to not get the very loose skin. with the lap band, it is a slower process which gives you a longer time to exercise and tone up without the loose skin. The draw back on the lap band is that it does take longer to lose weight. I have had 2 adjustments, and after the second one, i have to be very careful on how fast i eat, or i get what feels like a heart burn and i sometimes throw up. just research all options. If you do the gastric, the ruex-en y is the better of all because of the absorption rate of nutrients.. still do your research

First of all, why would you want to do something so drastic? You really have to literally be morbidly obese to be considered for gastric bypass. You also have to lose a certain amount of weight on your own prior to the surgery to prove you are willing do what it takes after the surgery. You can't eat nearly as much as you do now. Do some research to know what you're really getting yourself into. It's not just peachy keen perfect after wards, it's truly a lifestyle change commitment for life.

Go for it my friend. Its the only way to take the weight off without years of watching what you eat and frowning every time you look in the mirror. Lipo doesn't keep the fat from returning in the cells that are left behind. Lipo has to be redone every 1-15 years or so as the cells left "fill" in the empty space. Gastric bypass is nothing anymore, the doctors that perform it are pros. Go for it girlfriend! Do it, make an appointment today!

If you are adamant about surgery I would suggest the lap band as opposed to gastric bypass, it is laproscopic with a quicker recovery time.
One thing you have to understand is that this will take ALOT of discipline.
You will only be able to eat a teaspoon full of food for a long time. If you eat certain foods you WILL get sick.
Do your research. There is alot to consider.

My son recently had it done first you have to go to your doctor. He will tell you that before you can become a candidate for gastric bypass surgery you must have a certain BMI then you must have failed two registered diet plans (ex. WieghtWatchers and Jeanne Craig) Then and only then will you become a candidate. Understand one thing however it is no picnic by any means. It is a rough operation and alot of people wish they had never done it. But there are alot of people who swear by it as well. Good Luck.

I know you have to be a certain weight. I think you either have to be over 250lbs or over with no medical conditions or 250lbs or under with a medical condition to be consider for surgery.Medical conditions like diabetes, hypertension, etc....... I heard that people have this surgery when all else has failed to lose weight. It has to be documented in you doctor's files that you have been trying to lose weight. That is if you want the insurance company to help you pay for it. Also, I think you have to talk to a mental health professional to make sure you are mental ready for the surgery, and the outcome of the surgery. You still have to change your eating habits, or it won't work. I hope this helps. Go talk to a Doctor and do research on the web to see if this is right for you.

That is really extreme. Try excersize first and eat natural food like fresh fruit and veg. I'm full figured myself, but I think we can get a handle on the issue by cutting back and excersizing more. I am not one who likes excersize videos with skinny people jumping around effortlessly, I want to smack them. So, I just dance, I put on a CD or Radio station that has up-beat music that I'd want to dance to anyway and let myself get winded boogying down. Take a breather and do some more. Oh and drinking lots of water is a great idea too.

All surgeries have a great risk either during the process or some ten years later. I suggest to loose weight the old fashion way, by eating right and exercising.
