No, I think the right woman would make a good President, black or white, as long as it wasn't Hilary.

I have said this myself. When I say it, I don't mean that the world isn't ready, or that a black person or a woman wouldn't make a good president. It's that I think most Americans are too stupid & ignorant & prejudiced to be able to vote for one. There's lots of countries with women leaders, but the people of those countries are less ignroant that a large spectrum of the American people.
And this I know: the first non-white-male president will be SERIOUSLY CONSERVATIVE. It's sad, but true. Being a non-white-male is enough baggage to be able to be acceptable to the Nascar Dads out there -- the only way they'd have a chance is to make up for it by being slightly to the right of Adolf Hitler!

It doesn't really annoy me. The only females that I have heard being interested in the job are morons though. Come Hillary Clinton. I know some some very intellegent women that would make great presidents, heck I know some very intellignt guys would make a great president, but the bottom line is that since they are not millionairs or corruptable, they will never be able to get into politics to get is started, and I am not just talking about the current administration being corupt either. All politicians are corupt. Sorry folks I love this country but it's the cold hard truth.

I think it is ridiculous, why in a free country are there so many things we are not ready for and why?! Yes white male over 40, blah blah blah...they are doing such a great job huh? I personally think that a female president is not wanted but is needed in this country, I'm not worried if she is black, Asian, gay, bisexual...whatever who cares. If she is capable of running a country just the same or hopefully better, then have at it! Little girls are told everyday that they can be whatever they want, what we need to do is have examples of this so it doesn't seem so far fetched, especially when you have male and females alike saying that "we're not ready". What exactly are they not ready for? Too many people are racist? sexist? Hey I'm not a huge fan of redneck oil men but I'm not about to move to Canada! I for one would love to see a female president, black, white and anything in between, this country needs a major over haul of it's morals and standards.

You're right, people say it all the time and I do find it endlessly frustrating. But all candidates go through a version of this with the "electability" argument. I find that absurd--it boils down to "I'll only find someone worth supporting if my neighbors are voting for him too." So much for democracy.
What does it mean, anyway, "We're not ready"? "We haven't moved beyond our bigotry, and that's okay with me?" Sorry, I can't accept that.
I have to add that I am also frustrated by the argument that fundamentalist nations would not deal with a woman president, since our last three secretaries of state have been: a white woman, a black man, and a black woman. They actually deal with foreign nations quite a bit in that job, if you can imagine.

It doesn't annoy me that people say that because I know it is true. There is still too much racism and sexism in our country for us to be ready for it. Even if somehow a woman or black person was able to win the election with enough votes...there would still be sooo many narrow-minded, ignorant people who were against it, that it would rip the country into pieces (even more than it already is).
The people who say that are right, we aren't ready.....so that's not what annoys me, it's the reason why we aren't ready that pisses me off.
Progress is slow.
Very slow.

I am annoyed when people put labels on potential presidents like you just did.
We, as a people, are always ready for the best qualified person to be elected President.
It doesn't matter to most of us what their ethnic background or gender is, just their qualifications.
In the past and up to now, the best qualified person has always been a straight Caucasian male.
If you look at the females, black, oriental and Caucasian that seem to be in the news, none are even remotely qualified.
Hillary is crooked as a dog's hind leg, Ms. Rice has no real experience, Ms.Whitman has not distinguished herself in any manner, several of the few black congresswomen appear to be mentally unstable and the rest have only local recognition.
The real question is why haven't females, be they black, oriental or Caucasian, developed their qualifications as potential presidential candidates.
Perhaps it is a genetic flaw.

Hmmmm, being a woman who loves politics- I really don't think the world is ready for a woman president. A black president, fine- but something I don't see happening within the next twenty years.
Regardless of our current feelings about the current president, our 'leader' has to be someone the rest of the country will want to do business with. So, do you feel the UN and the leaders of such 'traditionalist' countries would really want to negotiate or do business with a woman? Food for thought, and be honest when answering : )

Personally (as a woman) I think and feel that presidents, ministers, kings, emperors, all important managing positions should be filled with males.
They are just better at it because of the differences that exist between males and females and the current existing culture that exists here in the west.
People (men and women) have so little respect for women that it is absolutely impossible for a woman to be in a managing position.

I think we are ready for a female president of any race, especially Native American. I mean, good grief, why would people judge a woman's ability to lead the country when we have a goon, for a lack of more obscene words here, for a leader now?

Now you know why Republicans hate smart, Independant and powerful Women like Hillary?
The love Rice, who is Bu$h's yes person.
I would vote for Colin Powel, at least he was brave enough to serve, Bu$h and Cheney are both Draft dodgers. Powel has guts, he was opposed to the war without a exit plan. He paid for his courage.
BTW, you need to read more. You seem to be very un-informed on the important issues. You also seem to be un-educated.
BTW, only a real Idiot would think a terrorist would fight any American face to face, they do the dirty work behind our backs.
Like the Americans just arrested for the Terrorist plot to blow up the Sears tower, they are cowards. get a clue. With 22 million illegals walking in from Mexico "are you safer" now?
