I know what you meant Matty.

It's a good point - I think the origin of churches are a scam. I think that's why Jesus was killed because he tried to teach everyone that you don't have to go to church to believe in God.

Now adays people go to church because that's just the way its been. I believe in god and don't need to go to church to worship and believe in him.

Money can be the root to all evil when it is not used the right way. People use money to do some pretty vile things with it . Then you have people who have tons of money and never help out those in need. You should give money to your church, it pays for the up keep of the church and grounds, the lights, the heat, and for other programs that go on in churches, such as vaction bible school, out reach programs, etc....Money is used for the glory of god and his teachings. Some churches have soup kitchens to feed the homeless, and give them shelter or support. Churches do so much good, to bad we all like to bash them and not give them the props they deserve.

Money or wealth is not the route or source of all evil. Rather it is the way money is used that perhaps could be described as immoral and possibly even evil. At present, most of the suffering in the world results from one simple fact: less than 5% of the world possesses almost all of the world's wealth: disease, famine, and economic and political unrest could be better managed and perhaps even eliminated if those who possess the wealth did more to assist all those who are in dire need.

Money is simply power. (If you're alone on a deserted island $1,000,000 won't do you any good besides for starting a fire).

Power to buy food and clothing
power to buy prostitutes
power to buy drugs
power to have someone killed
power to corrupt
power to heal
power to help
power to help
power to educate

The love of power might also be the root of all evil, if you want to broaden the statement.

Churches have operation costs. Churches need to pay people to move food to africa, etc. Some use this power wisely, others do not.

According to the church "Love of money (greed) is the root of all evil." But does the church take what they need, or are they greedy. Well, the only churches I have seen have everything coated in gold. That sounds like greed to me. One more reason I am atheist. This is another example of church hypocrisy.

It didn't say in the Bible that money was the route of all evil, it says that the LOVE of money is the route of all evil. Tithing helps you to keep humble and not to love money if you truly think about it because you will not be mean and selfish.

First of all, you wouldn't have a job if God didn't give you the abilities and skills in order to have the job you have. He made you capable of having talents or being able to grasp onto a concept. So one way or another...all of your own efforts were provided by God so that you COULD do what you did to learn...

So since we have received all that we have from God....he asks for a small sacrifice so that we can show our appreciation for what we have, not to mention our level of selfishness...if God gives you 10 dollars..can you really not give up 1 dollar to him?

The REAL use for tithing SHOULD NOT be lining the pockets of the Pastors..it should be for the betterment of the Church itself..the buildings/upkeep/gardening/lights/land/temples etc....for this very reason..The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints does NOT have paid pastors..they do their job at church out of love and service and not for money.

No, money is not the root of all evil. IGNORANCE is the root of all evil!

Oh, and is that 10% like a commission, or a fee for listening to a reading and interpretation from a book you already have access to? Or is it some kind of "cover charge" for the booze and bread?

1 Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is a root of all sorts of injurious things, and by reaching out for this love some have been led astray from the faith and have stabbed themselves all over with many pains.

It is the LOVE of money that leads to all evil. This is talking about the tendency to want more and more money and to clinge to materialistic things. The money given is out of generous donations, nobody is forcing anyone to donate, it's a matter of choice.

Well, first of all, it is the LOVE of money that is the root of all evil!! Not money itself. Secondly, the reason we are supposed to give 10% of our money to the church, is because all the money in the world belongs to God, not man. We are very lucky that God doesn't ask for more. After all, it is His, not ours!
