Hi engot - excellent question. According to Scripture, there are more than a few clues:
He will be from Europe; he will be attractive, a linguist, and will set himself to be worshipped.

www.triumphpro.com says this:

'The coming [of the lawless one, the Antichrist] is through the activity and working of Satan, and will be attended by great power and with all sorts of [pretended] miracles and signs and deceiving marvels ‑‑ [all of them] lying wonders ‑‑ And by unlimited seduction to evil and with all wicked deception for those who are (going to perdition,) perishing because they did not welcome the Truth but refused to love it that they might be saved.

The Book of Daniel says this:

Daniel speaks of this coming world ruler, saying, "And at the latter end ... a king of fierce countenance and understanding dark trickery and craftiness, shall stand up. And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power; and he shall corrupt, and shall destroy astonishingly, and shall prosper, and do his own pleasure, and he shall corrupt and destroy the mighty men and the holy people ‑‑ the people of the saints" (Dan.8:23‑24).

This will be a ruler of "impious presumption and pride" (Dan.8:9).

Daniel also writes, "[There] shall arise a contemptuous and contemptible person, to whom royal majesty and the honor of the kingdom have not been given. But he shall come in without warning in time of security and shall obtain the kingdom by flatteries, intrigues, and cunning hypocritical conduct" (Dan.1 1:21, Amplified Version).

The book of Revelation gives us further insight into this intriguing character, who is the fount of all evils. Notice:

"As I stood on the sandy beach, I saw a beast coming up out of the sea with ten horns and seven heads. On his horns he had ten royal crowns (diadems) and blasphemous titles (names) on his heads.

"And the beast that I saw resembled a leopard I Germany], his feet were like those of a bear [Russia], and his mouth was like that of a lion [United States
and Great Britain]. And to him the DRAGON gave his own might and power, and his [own] throne and great dominion" (Rev. 13:1‑2).

We have just read that the "dragon" ‑‑ a figure representing Satan the devil (Rev. 12:9; 20:2) himself ‑‑ gives this end‑time world empire, and especially its bestial leader ‑‑ power and authority over nations. Although this is clearly a direct reference to Satan the devil, that old "dragon" who will be forced out of heaven and cast down to earth in the very near future (Rev.12:7‑9), Biblical prophecy is often dual ‑‑ and some hidden meanings are very subtle. There are often secondary meanings and hidden layers of interpretation.

The emblem or animal which is the sign and characteristic of China is none other than the famous "DRAGON"! Dragon dances and parades are held in every major city of China every Chinese New Year's Day. China is famous as the land of the "dragon."
Indeed, it was the "(Chinese) dragon (who) gave him his power, and seat, and great authority" (Rev. 13:2, KJV).

"The Mortal Wound"

"And one of his heads seemed to have a deadly wound But his death stroke was healed, and the whole earth went after the beast in amazement and admiration. They fell down and did homage to the dragon [Satan the devil],
because he had bestowed on the beast all his dominion and authority; they also praised and worshipped the beast, exclaiming, Who is a match for the beast, and who can make war against him?" (Rev. 1 3:3‑4, Amplified Bible).

Who is a match for the best, and who can make war against him? Jesus Christ. This will signal His second coming. Read what www.leftbehind.com says:

The second coming of Jesus Christ is the most frequently mentioned subject in the Bible, other than the doctrine of salvation; what the Bible is all about. The Second Coming is clearly taught in both the Old and the New Testaments. It was promised 321 times in Scripture, predicted by Jesus Christ Himself, by all the writers of the New Testament, and by many of the Old Testament prophets. It is the capstone of all Christianity, without which God's merciful plan for mankind's future cannot be understood.

There is some evidence that he has actually already been born. We are in the last days as of now, so the Anti-Christ will be made known very soon. We just need to know to trust in Jesus, and listen to the Lord for guidance. And if we do those things we won't have to worry about it because God will protect us and direct us.

This is the kind of myth that has been debated since the rise of Zoroasterianism. There is no more evidence to demonstrate the validity of this myth than any other myth.

Focus instead on what rational actions each of us can do to improve our immediate world around us and to encourage our corporations and governments to take proactive measures to restore the global environment.
