Lemon juice works, but don't expect a drastic change. You'll also need to condition your hair afterward because lemon juice is drying.

lemon juice, then sit in the sun all day - but is a bit useless - youre better off buying a commercial product or getting highlights

Try using lemon juice or hydrogen peroxide. Put either in a squirt bottle and spray on your hair, then lay out in the sun. (That's the key.)

Buy camomile tea bags, put them in boiling water and wait to cool, then rinse it through your hair. Go out in the sun for an hour (not between 11am to 3pm, and make sure you use SPF), then rinse out.
Don't use lemon, it makes your hair break off.

Lemons... really any citrus fruit will help. If you put them in your hair and then go sit in the sun you'll notice a wee difference...
