I just mean legal immigrants. What is the percentage of people who turn in their greencard for citizenship?

there is a difference between green card holder and legal immigrant!!!
There are lots of fully legal workers in the US, holding a working permit - there are quite a few different types, depending on the time spent in the country, on the type of expertise, on the job...

The step from Green Card to citizenship is quite direct - but the step between work permit and permit of residence (aka green card), is years of paper work, lawyers, money...

So, no, not all legal immigrants become citizens. Actually, not all want to! Some are in fact proud of their country of birth, but life somethimes takes you down unexpected paths.

They dont have a chance to unless they marry a citizen. My husband is a permanent resident and I dont know if he will decide to become a citizen or not, he has to wait 2 more years to even try, but it doesnt matter much to me. The only real difference is that he cannot vote.

I think most of the legal immigrants do become American citizens. With the illegal ones, it's another story.

There is no chance for people who don't win the Green Card lotery! A LOTTERY determines if you will be a citizen or not!
Or a fake marriage to a US citizen.
Because I don't wanna lie, they don't make me a citizen, athough I pay my taxes etc.
