Because they need their values to be reinforced by like-minded people. Perhaps they are merely misinterpreting what is written in the bible. Perhaps it's one-too-many misquotes from the bible, or even the teachings of a poisonous priest, pastor, minister, or sect.
It's interesting the verses you chose... If these are, in fact, the correct references (I don't know, I don't own a bible), let's look at them:
Lev 19:18 - Basically, "don't seek revenge or hold a grudge against people" then "love your neighbor", followed by a "Why? Because I'm GOD and I said so, that's why!" Correct?
Ecc. 6:12 - My understanding of this passage is that no man knows his purpose in this life. His search is in vain. The answers won't be known to him (as a shadow). 'After all, who can predict what tomorrow brings'.
Matt. 7:1 - Clear as a bell. Probably one of THE MOST POPULAR references in the Bible. And HOW often is it adhered to? Go anywhere and sit for an hour or two and observe the answer!
Matt. 7:12 - While I believe this to be the "Do unto others..." verse; the verse actually reads like "Whatever someone does to you, do it to them". It's the law... Quite the reversal of meaning...
When you look at it, especially as you may have seen in the verse above, the bible is open to interpretation. I think that, more often than not, people use it to hide their true, "earthly" intentions and use it as it suites their particular situations.
Homophobes use the bible to condemn. Homosexuals use the bible to teach, defend, and correct homophobes.
It really is a "Battle of the Bible Verses". I can almost hear the TV commercial in my head:
SUNDAY! SUNDAY! SUNDAY!
It's BATTLE OF THE BIBLE VERSES: THAT BATTLE FOR YOUR SOUL (echo "soul" 3-4 times)...
(only on pay per view)

Answering one verse at a time:
Telling somebody that they are wrong, and in mortal danger, isn't "bearing a grudge."
I don't know what your point is from Ecclesiastes 6:12.
Matthew 7:1 is speaking against hypocrisy; read it in its context. We are commanded to judge rightous judgement (John 7:24), which would be in accordance with the Bible.
As for the golden rule (Matthew 7:12), I would want somebody to tell me if I am sinning, so that I could change. Why wouldn't you want that?

A homophobe is a person who hates homosexuals, right? A person who hates or fears homosexuals? Should we be fearful of homosexuals or the promotion of gay marriages? I do not hate anyone's sexual habits. Their habits are for their bedrooms and very personal choices. But when it comes out to the world and I have to sit and listen to someone's private sexual choice being discussed in parliament, requiring legitimacy sends a shiver down my spine. Nature tells us that all life carries on with the union of male and female. And yet the homosexuals expect to change the laws of nature and my religion to accept their union as a legal marriage changing the definition of marriage? I am then supposed to teach my children that something that does not exist in nature or in my religion is supposed to be adhered to and tolerated to this extent that it has to be destroyed and changed from my own personal beliefs?

I read the bible, raised by the bible, but yet I accept them as long as they don't hit on me. I am too tired to fight with this stupid world, and it sounds like you are one of them.
So get off your *** and start thinking about the present. Life is too short to live with out standing for what you believe is right and that is what they have been doing. IF you think it is wrong, how about you sit down with one and just talk. The only difference between us and them is that they sleep with the same sex.

It's very simple really, people with closed minds have no tolerance for any other thoughts. I find that conservative Christian groups are the toughest nuts to crack and they are always right. They have the almighty God on their side. They gloss over the parts of the Bible where it says that God will judge, not them.

we accept because Jesus accepted, we accept because we dont have the authority to judge, but the repsonsibility to bring people to christ. we accept these types of people because one day it maybe someone close to our hearts who is need of "acceptance".
