Say for example, why would born again Christians say that they are no better a person than say a child rapist and a murderer if they "repented"?
And if all sin is the same in God's eyes, then
What Should Be the Motivation for all us sinners not going out raping and killing, why don't we? And does that also suggest that one who never gets caught for commiting acts of savagry but later "repents" really never gets any punishment for their actions? OMG. what a horrible religion, but anyway.....your thoughts......

I don't even think some of these "christian" people truly read and understand the question. Talk to your local pastor? sorry honey, but anyone that thinks they are no better than people who rape torture and kill people, and children! you are sick people who obvioulsy have no problem believing in a sick God if he puts "belief in him" over all other acts of brutality and injustice.
thats it. You have an unjust and twisted, child-like God than. How can you see no ethical dilemma in this?

*then
And by some of these responses, it should be no wonder to me, if "being christ-like" is one's only motivation not to torture someone!!, that these people see nothing wrong with bombing women and children along with countless other violence. No wonder they say that religion is the cause of violence and war.

"Why would born again Christians say that they are no better a person than say a child rapist and a murderer if they repented?"

Repentance does not change a sinner into a non-sinner. What repentance does is "clothe" us in the righteousness of Christ, so that what God sees is not our righteousness (or lack of) but His. There is no gray-scale for sin in God's eyes, it is all black. From the casual liar, to the murderer, it is all sin. Were it not for the grace of God through Christ, we would still be in that mire. But we have been washed, and clothed in His righteousness. That does not make us "better" than any other sinner out there. That just makes us thankful and humbled, because it has nothing to do with anything we have done. It was all through the work of Jesus and God's grace and mercy.

"What should be the motivation for all us sinners not going out raping and killing, why don't we?"

For every action, there is a reaction. Even though we have been forgiven, there are still reprocutions of our sin. God delivers us from the eternal consequences of our sin, but not the terrestrial. If you rape, or murder, you must pay the price. Ted Bundy accepted Christ while in prison, and God told him he must confess all of his crimes. Doing so would guarantee the death penalty. He confessed anyway and was justly put to death for his crimes.

"And does that also suggest that one who never gets caught for commiting acts of savagry but later repents really never gets any punishment for their actions?"

If a person repents, God will not let them rest until they confess their crimes. Chuck Colson was easily able to "lawyer out" of his part in Watergate. But one question by Dan Rather convinced him that he must go to prison for his part in the coverup. True repentance opens your communication with God, and He has ways of dealing with your past.

"OMG. what a horrible religion, but anyway."

If I had read this first, I would not have bothered with taking time to answer. People who commit crimes are in bondage to sin. Those who commit heinous crimes are manipulated by the devil, for he was a murderer from the beginning. When Christ came to set us free, it changed everything. If you think that murderers and the like deserve hell no matter what, that just shows that your mercy is limited.

What are you asking? Because it seems like you were making more of a statement. We are all God's children, and we are ALL precious to Him. And being precious doesn't 'go away' if we do something wrong. And I am sure that you have done something that you should have received a big punishment for, and didn't. That's called GRACE & MERCY sweetie. And the motivation for us all to not become mass murderers and such, is because we have a higher calling. We have gifts that need to be utilized to bring glory to God, so in other words we don't have time for the nonsense. Plus, why would you want to do that anyway, it's just not right. And It is not an awful religion, actually it is not about the religion at all! God didn't come to this earth to create 'religion', I don't think God even cares about 'religion'. He wants/desires relationship!!! And once there is a sincere relationship with Him, then there is no room for craziness because you are so consumed in His love to the point where you don't have to question Him or doubt Him. Just love Him and live your life for Him. That's what it's all about!!! God is awesome! Try Him..you'll see...

You may be punished for your actions here on earth, but if you are forgiven by God, you won't be punished eternally. Is that such a horrible thing, the thought that you can be forgiven?

If one is forgiven of his past sins, and he goes out and commits more, he is in danger of hell because of those sins; a Christian needs not only to be forgiven, but to STAY forgiven.

Let's turn this around: atheism believes that one can go out and do whatever he wants (murder or child rape, to use your examples), and as long as he stays one step ahead of the police, doesn't leave any DNA behind, or simply never gets caught, he will never be punished for those actions. What a horrible religion atheism is!

First of all, don't lump all Christians (and all Christians are baptized which makes them "born again.") into the same group. I don't understand the first question because there's something missing. Second, do YOU need motivation not to kill? Do you even seriously think about it? Then why do you ask what the motivation is not to do it? Seems to me, it's not a motivational question. Further, does all justice need to take place on earth for it to be justice? God can make sure the justice takes place. Your calling it a "horrible religion" is uncalled for. Lacks the true willingness to discuss.

Most born again Christians are these people and not these type of people, they have done something that they feel morally wrong about or have done something very wrong to others or themselves or that someone has done to them, so to live with themselves they must turn to Jesus and be born again and be saved from whatever evil that they were living with.

remember, when you are born you inherited the society that other built and left for you to accept or change it and sometimes that is not a petty picture, because you have no control over others and they can influence your young mind. At a young age you start learning from other and the others sometimes forget that what they do you are learning

even though us christians repent(turn away from sin), ask god for forgiveness god is a just god, he's a merciful & forgiving god, & yes he'll forgive us. god also knows our hearts better then we do. we all make our own choices in life right or wrong. if we choose to do wrong, believe me there are consequences to pay. we reap what we sow.
sin is sin, how big or even how small it's all sin in god's eyes. stealing a penny is a sin & like u stated so is murder.
we all make mistakes in life, for whatever reason. not justifying it, so don't get me wrong.
remember that jesus christ died upon the cross for everyone in this world even including you.
we're saying that just b/cuz we're born again christians doesn't mean that we consider ourselves better then anyone else. we're all equal in god's eyes. just the difference is that we've given our lives, our soul to god.
there's a difference if you purposely go out rape someone to make a point. that's intentional. knowing it's wrong.
some people are sick, don't know better, that's the life they've brought up in, & only god knows why & their heart. if anyone truly repent, ask god for forgiveness, god will surely forgive anyone who asks. that doesn't mean we continue doing wrong & thinking that god will continue forgiving them for the same mistakes, sin. nope, god doesn't work that way. 1st time is under mercy & grace. 2nd time, if there is will be judged under law. after that, god takes his hands off the person & says it's intentional the unintentional.
there will be consequences for all our wrong, bad mistakes. don't think there won't be.
however long it takes for someone to repent is between them & god. if they repent b/4 dying then god will still forgive them.
but we're no one to judge anyone, god is the judge on the just & unjust.
that doesn't mean that now we go out & do wrong intentionally, then ask god to forgive us. it doesn't work like that. remember: god knows our hearts, & we'll be judged for all our actions.
there will be punishments for our actions, but it's what god allows to happen. that's not for us to worry & be concerned about. god will take care of all the situations, & not us.

Christains religion is more about forgiveness then holding something against another person. I grew in the religion, but i believe there is more to god then just forgiving the person that are child abusers in all ways and another other convict. My brother is in prison, but not for what you said. I had learned his lession in life and is eager to get out of prison and change his life around. He was scared shitless to go to prison. Prision brings the best out in ya or the worst. What ever you choose is how of a life you are holding.

The transformation that happens at salvation (being born back) is the beginning of the spirit. And basically as once you're born a sprint one you ought to study to stroll and communicate and consider and write. the comparable is actual interior the religious experience. yet sure I even have considered people who had one in all those dramatic transformation that they have got been distinctive people. yet they have been truly heavy into some weird and wonderful stuff so the replace replace into very substantial. each and every person isn't that glaring. And as they boost they'll replace. it truly is not for me (or you) to decide the path of a individual as long as they are truly in seek of God. he will replace them as they boost. no person is worth- no longer me- no longer you. that's what the Grace of God and the sacrifice of Jesus is all approximately!

All people have also a conscience - given by God.
Also we all have a brain and we can think, we have emotions and we can love, we have common sense and we can act according to our conscience.
Not everybody goes around raping and destroying because of these factors - no matter if they are believers or not.

What should be so horrible in christianity anyway?
