For my wedding, my venue limits the usage of many tossable items. Because of this, birdseed seems to be the best alternative. To make it appear to be more interesting, I would think that dying it my wedding colors with food coloring would liven it up a little. I am curious, though, if the colored seed will be harmful in any way to the birds that will come by and eat it. Thanks in advance!

my bird has seed that is dyed
its to makes it more attractive/noticable, meaning more birds will prolly show up
you may need a certain dye though, you could ask a pet store that sells dyed bird seed or ask a vet
or just buy bird seed thats already dyed

You can buy bird seed with colored seeds already made. The colors just make the seed more interesting to the birds.I would not attempt to make my own colored bird seed.Pet food manufacturers know what can be used as additives that won't harm an animal.

Birdseed dyed with food colouring is perfectly safe for birds. Bird toys are all dyed with food colouring so you have abolutely no need to worry about colouring your birdseed with it. I make toys myself out of for my birds.

If its a water based dye, like food coloring I would not worry about it, the birds should be ok.....think about it....its the colored food we eat harmful?...nope.

I'm not sure if food coloring is harmful or not, but just to be on the safe side, I'd suggest just leaving it natural.
