My opinion is that you've got to check the reliability and performance statistics on each individual (or similar) model types from any car manufacturer, no matter who they are. Engineers design the cars and they do a better job on some than on others. Production lines manufacture the cars using parts suppliers from all over the world, and some cars get put together with better parts than others, even within the same company. First become familiar with the power trains used by the individual companies. What engines and transmissions are known for their longevity and quality? If I were forced to accept any car or truck manufactured by GM or Ford, then I would choose Ford because I like their modular V6 and V8 engines and the fact that they still make a rear wheel drive sedan in the Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis. But I would buy a specific GM model car that I liked too.

If you talkin bout cars they both suck minus the vette and mustang, but truck i go with chevy. I still see busted up chevys drivin on the street the odometer dont even work lol, prolly +150K on it, but domestic cars just plain suck but i love the trucks

Really depends on what you want(car,truck,suv).If you're looking for small econimical car,go ford.Anything else,definately go chevy.If you're looking for a truck,I'd go dodge.I've owned many,many chevy and gmc trucks,now own a 04 dodge ram and will never go back to chevy trucks!
