The answer really depends on your own beliefs and interpretations of Scripture. I personally don't believe that "all sins are equal," but then again, I'm not a Christian. But from what I've seen in the Bible, albeit a few contradictions like with the blasphemers, all sins are considered the same. (Which I don't believe. There's no way in hell [pun intended?] that rape is the same as stealing a candy bar).
That said, I don't think homosexuality's a sin at all. After all, I'm gay. :P Yes, it's mentioned in the Bible, but it's really up to interpretation as to whether it really condemns it or not. There are several interesting books on the topic.

Who gives us the right to cast the first stone? So, now that she goes to your church and has given the members some juicy gossip, does that mean she is "saved" and will go to Heaven? What if she murdered her gay lover to escape from this alternate life style? Would your church think the murder was justified? I don't think there is a point scale for sin. It would be like we had a tally sheet on our soul. If you coveted your neighbor's wife you'd lose 10 points. But if you saved a gay person by humiliating them in front of the whole church, you'd get 20 points and that would mean your score was +10. I'm glad I don't go to your church and I'm not even gay.

Like so many people, particularly Christians, your preacher is a small-minded bigot. It is not a sin to be gay, anymore than it is a sin to be black, disabled, bald etc. Everyone is different. Move over here to the UK, we are far more accepting than most of America. It's no coincidence either that very few people over here are practising Christians or go to church. Now you can understand why. Good luck to your friend.

Personally, I think in the sin scale, and I'm certainly no judge, that child molesters, rapists and murderers would be a lot higher on the sin scale than being gay. I may have my "most hated sins", but according to the bible, sin is sin. I'm certainly hoping that child molesters get a harsher sentence, but like I said, I'm not the judge, He is. Anyway, once we're saved that sin is wiped away anyway, so it doesn't matter what that sin was, its gone.

Just because the bible says something is a sin does not make it so. Don't you think humanity has come quite a long way in their reasoning & beliefs since 2,000+ years ago?? People who rely solely on what the bible tells them are ignorant in my opinion. I don't think being gay is a sin, & if anyone thinks that being gay will get you into Hell then they are absolutely ridiculous.

According to the Bible all sin is the same except for one. It says that if you break one, you break them all. So if one lies then it's the same as murder, according to the Bible.
It is only to those people who are obsessed with other people's sexual habits that will claim being a homosexual is a "bigger" sin than any other, but you will not find that in the Bible.
*The only sin that isn't forgiveable is Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.*

We are all sinners....I think the greatest sin is murder but I think all sin is equal. Being gay, being lustful, being hateful, and mean, fulling around on your partner, cheating, stealing, telling lies, hurting people emotionally and physically, fornication, and the list goes on. We are told by god to hate the sin of the person but to love the person. Which I know is almost not even consider this day. I can't hate people because I'm told to love my neighbor as I love my self, even if they are doing bad things, that does not mean I have to accept what they are doing. We are all sinners and daily we have to work on changing things within ourselves before we can Judge everyone because we all do sin.

i am a married studying misniter, i see it as this, being gay is not a sin, having sex with someone of the same sex is!! how can we tell a man to not have love for a woman, just like how can you tell someone who is convinced that they have feelings for someone of the same sex, that they are wrong. if we want to know what it feels like imagine this; how would you feel if someone told you that being the skin colour you are is a sin, no matter how you try and change it, reality is you cant. is all sin, sin. yes. but i ask you this, does a gay person, who never acts on his/her feelings less likely to recieve salvation than a person who kills other humans? you judge, but dont let a minister of a church decide who is sinful and who isnt, thats God's job. if she is interested in church, tell her to attend, but leave her sexuality to God, not the minister....god bless

All sin is serious and separates us from God. God can't be in the presence of even "small" sins. However, I think homosexuality gets a lot of the attention because it's more of a lifestyle and on-going action. Rather than repent, many folks make excuses for their sin. God can forgive anyone who is willing to repent from sin and turn to Him.

It is a SIN and can be forgiven. If they don't repent and ask for the Lord's forgiveness they are going to Hell. Same as liars, theifs, fornicators(sex outside marriage), adulters and all kinds of others. It can be FORGIVEN though. That is why it is the same as almost all other sins.
