Firstly having no job isn't important. Granted a lot of people meet partners at work, or through work but there are a hundred other ways to meet someone.
Firstly it's important to meet someone who is going to 'fit' you. There is no point going to a club if you don't like clubbing, and dating a guy who goes clubbing every night. Chances are you wont have that much in common.
If you are into sports, why not join some clubs. Doing something you really like will show the real you, and somebody will get to know you with no pretences. If you like poetry, or cooking, again, join a club and you'll meet someone with similar interests. That is a great ice breaker!
Otherwise, there are always dating agencies. These days more and more people are too busy to be out dating, or going to bars to meet people. They are tired of the same old crowds. Why not go speed dating. Dress it up as a girls night out, so you'll feel more comfortable and more confident. You'll meet people from so many walks of life, and if you don't like them you never have to see them again!
Alternatively do it from your own home. Join an internet site, a lot have free trials and are good value for money. It's an easy way, and as long as you're safe, it can be a great place to meet someone. Chat on MSN or another site, establish whether you have anything in common and then meet in public, where their are lots of people, and take a friend along. Afterall, who knows you better than your mates!

Your first priority should be finding a job. Get that down and then look to date. Getting going in a career will introduce you to new people and give you confidence in your abilities, and we all know that confidence (not conceit! big difference!) is a very attractive trait to have. Send out your resume. Comb through the classifieds and get going. You'll have a whole new world of people to associate with in the professional realm.

The best way to find someone is NOT to look. the best people come into your life at the most unexpected times. i think when you are lonely it gives off some kind of desperate vibe. like the cliche' when you're with someone you get tons of attention from potential partners. i think this is because one is not desperate and has an air of confidence. to be confident and don't search for it....someone will surprise you! :)
