Each one of your examples will achieve different results. One will burn sugar, one will burn sugar and glucose, one is fat. All are really good. You should vary them and toss in a little strength training. You will achieve the results you want, with a healthy diet.

I would like to start off by letting you know I am no expert but I do quite a bit of reading when it comes to working out and losing fat. The problem that I see you are faced with is that you can't burn fat and build muscle at the same time it is physically impossible. When you decide to start burning fat you will also burn muscle it is just how the body works. Unless you are a runner skip the running all together and maybe try super sets or circuit training which will get you closer to what you are looking to accomplish.

Running six miles would burn up more calories than 3 or 1, even with the speed difference.

you should vary them all. why not try walking/'running intervals (2 mins walking/5 min. running). I hear that is a great way to burn fat

The regimens you're describing are all cardiopulmonary which will increase your endurance and yes burn fat. To increase muscle mass though you will need to include some weight training(lifting).
