from my experience not unless he is dirty or stinky; however if you have a small kiddie pool , use it just for your puppy to play in so he is use to the water. it is SO much better for its skin ( no shampoo ) until he is much older ( 6 month) then its once a week..always use puppy shampoo it is much gentler than adult shampoo.

Daddy grew up on a farm and he told me not to bathe a dog every day or every week because dogs are different than people and if dogs get bathed too often, their skin dries out. He said (and the vet agrees) that I should only bathe my dog when I begin to smell "doggy odor". If I don't smell "doggy odor" the doggie should be bathed once a month. This way my doggie was clean and her skin did not dry out.

no shampoo over once a month if it is a harsh one, a light shampoo can be used no more than once a week. If you are looking to control smells or allergys, you can rinse the dog out as much as you like with water, which will take away most of the smell or allergens. There are also wipes like baby wipes which don't irritatre the dog's skin and keep him nice and clean.

Dogs should NOT be bathe, more often than every 2 weeks. For most dogs, they only need to be bathed once a month, if that. If you bathe them too frequently, you will be removin' the natural oil of their fur/skin, which will cause dry skin problems.

Dog's only need a bath about once a month unless they get into something smelly. More than that can dry out their skin.
