I wanted to try it and I went to see one of the Eye Care Professionals here in Bay Area, CA about it and talk to him/her. After examining my eye for about an hour, he told me what I didn't quite expect to learn: "Unfortunately, you don't qualify for this type of procedure because of the severity and complications that can arise from this. The eye itself is perfectly fine, there's nothing wrong with it and you don't have to worry about it. The fault lies with the muscle that connects the eye to the brain. It's shorter than it's supposed to be to let anyone see better and it's just making the eye not to be able to see everything clearer by "pulling" it back and letting the light get in properly as well as not being able to register well what it sees. No amount of eye-exercises will be able to make the muscles longer, but it will make it stronger and probably slightly improve your vision. It won't be a complete vision return to a perfect 20/20 but still you'll be able to get a little bit closer to that." That was one of the detailed explanations I've heard any Doctor give about my eyes. He told me that it was like that when I was born and it was a reason why I started to wear glasses so early (age of 2.5-3).
Even though I personally don't qualify for it, it's alright with me. I look cute in the glasses (and there are so many choices to pick any frame from) and they're my "life-line" so to speak :) I hope other people will be able to try Lasik or any other laser corrective surgery to make their eye-sight better. Just make sure you have all the facts about the complications / financial / recovery / procedural sides of this technique and what to do (whom to contact and where to go) in case you'll have a problem / concern / worries, that way you won't be caught off guard :)
Best of luck and take care! :)

My husband had lasik 3 years ago and has 20/15 vision. He has really had a positive result with lasik. Make sure you find a doctor that is reputable. Ask to schedule a consultation and see what the doc has to say. Also, you can ask people you work with or are around if they've had it done and who they would recommend.

I have had it but to me the side effects are annoying. Dry eyes, night glare, ultra sun sensitivity. Lasik in my opinion is the best option for those who can't achive 20/20 through glasses or
contacts , but not for cosmetic reasons. Now I have to carry
sunglasses everywhere because of my sun sensitivity. So I'm back where I started from!!!! age:31

I had laser surgery on my eyes about 10 years ago. I went with a company called Optimax. They were great. They do some tests first to check your suitability and carefully explain all the ins and outs and any risks that may effect you as an individual. I have never regretted having it done. It is wonderful to be able to do things without having to wear glasses. You may want to check out www.lasik-eyes.co.uk. It is an unbiased website comparing the different types of laser surgery and the companies that do them. Good luck!

I closely know a couple of people who've had it about 9 years ago and they absolutely love it. You have to know which doctor to go by don't settle for anything, and I would not be comfortable ummm like to use a coupon to get my eyes done. Check on the doctor's background, how many successes and failures and patient complaints....etc Also, the results would be much better by a certain age, my doctor had told me to have the surgery when you're between 26-30.
I am getting ready to get that done towards the end of the summer. Best of luck to you, and believe me you will love it.

I want to get lasik as well but im only 17 and I heard that your eyes develop until your about 25-30. So Im going to wait, but if your vision is getting worse or is pretty bad (as mine) than try it! My aunt got it and she doesnt have trouble driving at night anymore and doesnt have to wear glasses!

my friend had it and she loved it and it did good for her...she had to sleep with these funny looking things on and wear big huge sunglasses after it but shes glad she did it she just had her 3 month check up and everything looks fine..she wud highly recomend it..but u shud also consult a surgeon and not just one several and get the best opinions if u have really bad vision or a problem they cant do it..just ask questions and find a reasonable price she went with the cheapest doc in the city which sounded scary but it turned out great!

I had it a few years ago and it was the best thing i could have spent my money on. I love it. My eyes were really bad. I got monovision. It's wonderful not to worry about glasses. The surgery was a breeze. Took about 10 to 15 mins.

I have and it's TOTALLY worth it. I wore glasses for 19 years before having it. Even though it costs thousands, it's SO worth it.
Be sure to ask about 'starlights' or 'halos' after you have the procedure done and what can be done to prevent this.

My husband had the surgery at about 64 years of age. What a difference in his vision. Would he do it again? Absolutely!
