If so, is it for safety?, out of habit?, worried about getting pulled over?, what is your reason for wearing a seat belt?

If you dont wear it, than tell me what your reason is for not wearing it.

I'm just curious to see some of the world's answers!

I wear seat belts for SAFETY.

Research shows that it takes around 4 milliseconds for a person to hit the steering wheel. Now, guess that it happens at a speed of 60 KMPH. Remember Newtons Third Law---To every action there is an equal & oppsite reaction---so the reactive force from the steering whell will be almost double---120 KMPH. That's enough to make someone's Lungs Puncture & blood oozing out of them. Further, during our testing we find that a person gets around 800 Kgf of impact when hits someone at a speed of 25 KMPH from the opposite. Do you expect we human can withstand that much force. Only SHREK (that green man) can.

Secondly for your imformation, cars now a days come fitted with collapsible column. That is in case of an impact the column (as well as the steering wheel) goes inside (like a telescope) thus minmizing the reactive forces. But for that the condition is that you must wear seat belts.

Thirdly, AIr Bags too can not be effective if somebody doesn't wears seat belt.

So, LET ALL OF US WEAR SEAT BELTS, WHEN WE DRIVE...

No, I don't and for two reasons:

1. Despite the fact that studies show it saves lives quite often I consider myself an excellent defensive driver and in almost 40 years of driving have been in one fender bender with a lil ole lady trying to park and have only had one moving violation. Of course it could always happen unexpectedly but so crossing the street and I believe when my time is up, its up.

2. No one, law or not, is telling me I have to wear a seat belt. Next thing you know they'll outlaw sunglasses and until they make talking on cell phones while a vehicle is moving against the law and charge at least the same fine then they can screw themselves. I'll pay the ticket, stop ny contributions to all the charitable foundations and keep right on doing what I want.

I wear my seat belt every time I get into my car. It is the first thing I do before I even start the engine. I had a neice that was 8 months pregnant and thought because she was only going a little way down the road, she didn't need her belt, she was hit by a car and it rolled several times. The parametics said that her and the baby would have made it if she had taken the time to buckle up first. But some people don't get the chance to see that hindsight is 20/20.

yes i use my seat belt all the time when driving in the states. it is out of habit and i also have responded to accidents where a person has flown into the front window or has been thrown from the vehicle. the only time i did not use one was when i was in bulgaria on patrol and was getting made fun of by the two cops that were riding with because no one over there uses them and they thought it was funny that i used it also because a lot of times we had to get out of the car fast and it really sucks when you get you gear stuck in the belt.
I dont like using it I can not get it to adjust correctly on the hight even when i put it all the way down it is still riding to high on my sholder so it is on my neck.
I actualy will not move my car when someone will not put there belt on i have some friends that dont use them so they have stopped riding with me because i make them use the belts

When I was a little younger i hated fastening my seat belt! It just irritated me! I am 19 years old now and although i don't drive my self I am always in my friends car. The other boys that come along in the car with us DO NOT wear their seat belts which really gets to me! I have to wear mine because of everything you said "saftey, habit and being worried about being pulled!" but i also think its pretty cool! Plus we have all heard storys about people who didn't wear their belt!! PEOPLE WEAR YOUR "SAFE BELT". :) good question!!

I do and will always. I can relate a story about a NASCAR driver who was on his way from Florida to New Mexico after a race. He was driving his own vehicle and somewhere in Texas he decided to remove his seat belt to be more comfortable. He fell asleep at the wheel was ejected from the vehicle and died. There is never a moment that you should not be belted in.

No, I do not wear my seat belt and I'll tell you why. First of all they could,nt be any more uncomfortable for a woman with huge boobs. Secondly, I;ve had two friends over the years who did wear their seatbelts only to be cut in half at the waist in horrible traffic accidents! No joke. One of my friends, Tina, was gorgeous and planning on being a model, but when her dad gave her a car for Christmas 1989 , she took it for a spin in the rain and when she crashed her seat belt cut her in half at the waist. Sorry to be so gruesome so early, but that's my final answer.

I wear my seatbelt in the car.
If I have to ride in a car with broken seat belts I don't feel safe.
Seatbelt use is the law.

I wear the darn thing when I am in an area where I know that they will you pull over. Usually for short trips I don't wear it because I am short ( which I know is wrong). The shoulder strap cuts my neck leaving a very painful red area. Since car manufacturers design the car for 6 feet tall males not short women, I am stuck.

I wear a seat belt for safety, because I've seen and heard of the consequences that could happen if you don't.
