i have a 650 dollar vehicle allowance with my company. i wonder how expensive a vehicle i should purchase?

people have been saying about 35K-40K, but would this still allow the allowance to pay for insureance, maint. etc? gas?

You can use simple math and figure that you'll be paying $200-$250 a month for every $10,000 you finance.I'd look for ranges in $25,000-$30,000

A 40k car with in most cases lease out in the upper 500 range with tax and fees upfront, say it's 550, that only leaves you with 100 for insurance and gas. 40k might be too much if you plan on paying for everything with that 650. Figure about 125 for insurance, 160 for gas (at least), so you'll need a car in the 400 range. Which, if you don't put tax and fees down, leaves you with a 30k or under car.
