I have long extremely thick hair. I try to get a trimmed up and thinned out on a regular bases but it is so stinking dry. I was thinking about a V05 hot oil treatment. I just want it to look healthy again.

Make sure that your shampoo is gentle enough that it's not what is drying your hair out. Maybe try a different kind. There are some leave in conditioners that are supposed to help, I believe. Or try the hot oil. I use a Pantene product on mine that works well, its one of those 3 minute in shower treatments. I forget what it's called though. It's pretty much a trial and error thing until you find something that works.

Hot oil treatments are good, but only work to an extent. I would try a deep conditioning mask first. There are a bunch of different brands you can get at your local Wal-Mart or grocery store. I like the Garnier Fructis one. After shampooing you just put this on all throughout your hair and leave it for 3 minutes before rinsing out. Good luck.

I love and use the V05 treatment when I need it...I also use Dove shampoo for dry hair. I also tried the one for extra dry, but it made my hair oily.

I have thick hair too and I try to get it cut every 6-8 weeks, this helps a lot.

Use a cream conditioner in the shower, then apply a leave-in conditioner. After you do this apply an anti-frizz serum evenly throughout your hair and brush it through, root to tip. Then make sure you brush your hair a lot. Brushing your hair spreads the oils from your scalp throughout your hair making it smooth and shiny. If none of this works then try the hot oil treatment. Also if you look in walmart or something they have facial masks, well right beside those, they have a mask for your hair to hydrate it.

You could try that or invest in an intensive conditioner. Make sure the products you're using now aren't drying it out. Another trick you might try is putting the conditioner in the microwave for a few seconds, or else apply the conditioner and soak a towel in hot water. Wring it out and wrap it round your head and leave it for an hour, the heat will allow it to really penetrate your scalp

first make sure you use products that protect from the heat of a blow dryer or flatiron, don't wash your hair every day, your natural oils are healthy, be sure to brush from your scalp to ends so the natural oils are evenly distributed, also use a conditioner after every shampoo, be sure to use a cool water rinse at the end it helps close the cuticle and keep the moisture in. you may also use a deep conditioner and leave it in over night and just rinse it out in the morning, i hope this helps,

A hot oil treatment would really help. Also, leave in conditioner works wonders.
