From Muslims blowing up buildings, Catholics raping children, and the Jewish "situation" with it's neighbors, why do people still buy into all the propaganda? Are religious people really so weak minded that they can't think for themselves? Wouldn't the world be a much better place if people laid down their bibles and qurans? I guess buddhists are ok, they don't seem to hurt anybody.

The bible is far more than a simple book to read, The entire document is encoded with all the answers to life (Read: The Bible Codes). It clearly indicates that we are spiritual being that are literally part of the creator. It further indicates that we are to act spiritually with each other and in no way endorses religion! That's our "religious leaders interpretation and misrepresentation for thousands of years" simply because they had no knowledge (and still don't) of the encoding so everything was taken literally! Religious leaders have led people against each other for years all in the name of God. Fortunately, we live in the time of the age of Aquarius....a time of enlightenment where the truth is being revealed, much to the chagrin of the aforementioned leaders. One last thing: The encoding was accomplished and unraveled by today's computers with state of the art decryption software. The results showed that the encoding was accomplished by using forms of modern day mathematics that didn't exist 3500 years ago (when the bible was first given to mankind). The only explanation would be an infinite mind. People want proof of the creator.....Well?

Yes. With the fall of the Roman Empire, the librarian of Alexandria was pulled off her carriage and skinned alive. Literacy dropped. Even the Pope had to have the Bible read to him. In the first crusade, Christians killed tens of thousands of people they called "infidels". The Children's Crusade (1212) caused the deaths of nearly 50,000 children. Preachers sentenced to death and executed thousands during the Inquisition (1233-1834) for heresy and witchcraft. There were the the Salem witch trials (1692) in America. The 17th Century Thirty Years War (Catholics v. protestants) wiped out tens of millions in Europe. In the Taiping Rebellion in China in the 1850's a Christian cult started a war that resulted in the slaughter of twenty million people. In the Holocaust six million Jews were murdered. Muslims and Christians in Bosnia reached a death toll of over 250,000.

And yes Buddhists are ok. They don't bother anyone because their goal is for peace.

Religion is not destroying the world, people are. The media only focuses on the religious people who do bad things, and not the millions of catholics, jews, and muslims who are non-violent. I know plenty of catholics who have never raped a child, plenty of Jewish people who don't bomb people because they want the land, and I know plenty of muslims who are not terrorists. In fact, I don't know anyone who fits any of those discriptions. You can't buy what the media says anyways. They only tell the "big stories" and leave out the millions of other people who have never and will never do those things.

No. And I think you are wrong to group all religious people together in the same militant groups. There are plenty of good, moral religious people who never participate in the things you mentioned. These people base their entire way of life on the teachings of Christ, but you never hear about them because that doesn't sell newspapers and make good TV news. True, there are some very serious problems but I think it's unfair and somewhat biased to imply all religious people just need to lay down their Bibles, etc because a few radicals and degenerates have committed murder, rape and sodomy.

Remember reading about the Crusades/Holy Wars? These occurred in the 1200-1300's. Hitler massacred 6 million Jews in the name of "Christianity". Religion has always been a point of contention and always will be ... from the beginning of time to the end.

Many people need to believe in something bigger than themselves and what they see on a daily basis to give them the faith that they feel makes them strong enough to survive in a tough world. Freedom of Religion was documented in our Constitution ot allow people to worship whomever and however they choose. I for one choose to avoid religion altogether because of the hypocrisy that's tied up in the whole thing, and the fact that I've not been overly impressed with the "Christians" I've come across with regards to their behavior. Many self-proclaimed Christians seem to have forgotten the basic teachings of their savior.

NO ! It's the people using the religions as an excuse to do anything they want !! If you take phrases out of context in any book, { Bible, Torah, ect........} you can twist it and use it to justify just about anything . The people who truly believe are the ones doing good works and that's not news!

If you remove religion they'll just use some other excuse to do the awful things they do.A larger percent of people practicing their religions are good, but, again, that does'nt make headlines. I think people need to believe in somethig greater then theirselves and this gives them hope & faith in this pitiless world, which is very badly needed. You just have to remember when searching your own religion, if they preach hate it's not a God based religion, if they think their religion is the only true one and discriminate run !!

Nope, it's making the world go round and round until one side wins. Oh yeah, Buddhists hurt themselves. They burn themselves in protest. I used to be a Buddhist and they demand alot of money at the temples and most of the people were poor. it's a shame that those monks were so greedy.

Because ya just gotta have Faith. People are easily lead to believe things when they're at their weakest moments. Each group interpets the bible their own way but in the end it's all the same thing.

Most of the agressors in religions are the ones who have the least faith and they manipulate the ingorant members of their faith to do their bidding.

Faith is a good thing as long as you interpet it your own way.

Don't worry about the planet, it'll be here long after we're gone. The question is whether we still have time to get wise to the religion scam and avoid killing ourselves.
