It is as effective as a brain washing tool as the Bible is. The Bible tells you to kill those who work for the Sabbath (Exodus 35:2). It also states to kill anyone who eats shellfish (Leviticus 11:10). And it tells you to stone your children to death if they misbehave (Deuteronomy 21:18-21). If you believe the Bible is the word of God, and that word is infallible, then you can't throw out some of the content, just because you don't like them.

The Quran is so strong because it is the real true word of God and no book is like it. However, Quran teaches to love people and to help them not to kill them. It also permitted Muslims to self defense against attackers, and this is what happening today, Muslims are countering the hostilities against them, just count the innocent victims from each side and you will see the truth clear.

It is good in country's where the government controls every aspect of your life, and there is no freedom of information of any kind. It conditions your brain to just trust whatever you hear because nobody can dispute what their governments, or dictators say.
