I've had ear damages, and clogging... ear drum rupture from going to mexico in airplane and i don't want to get worse.. i also feel foreigners hate me. That's why i do'nt plan to ever travel. Is this reasonable or should i change my thought? Also sometimes i fear accidents like car crashes or plane malfunctioning and falling because i had one bus crash accident when i was little. reasonable to decide not to travel even though you would like to one day see a country you like and have studied, appreciated, and learned its language?

Granted, I've only been in 5 countries - But I have never found hatred in any of them. I'm an American citizen & have never learned other languages. I mind my manners & ask for help, and have a GREAT time wherever I go. In fact, I'm planning a trip to Spain for this fall.
I don't think that it's reasonable to let what happened in the past be your guideline for your future. If you let these "anchors" tie you to your past, then how will you ever move forward? Don't live in fear, for it will change from a shield to a prison at some point in your life.

I think you have reasonable concerns, but if you start letting these concerns stop you from what you are wanting to do, then I would say it might be irrational. You can't live your life in a bubble. If it is your time to go, it is your time to go, you know what I mean? As far as the foreigners hating you. You have to be respectful of their culture and their values. You can't expect them to conform to your culture. Just some thoughts..

Okay, I have two thoughts for you. First, you should never do something you are completely uncomfortable with because you won't have fun. You won't allow yourself to because you'll be too worried... Which leads me to my next thought - You need to stop worrying so much. I know it is easier said than done, but I really think your life will be much happier if you can stop worrying a little. Sure, bad things happen overseas - but they happen here, too...

Good luck and happy travels!

You seem to be a strong and smart person asking this question after all you have gone through and how you feel.

Why not leaving it to time ? Let your current feelings guide you for current decisions and then they might change in time and when you feel a strong desire you'll travel.

I might be very, very wrong too.

Good luck

It really depends on where you would want to go as far as the "danger factor" ... as for your ear issues ... cruising across the ocean on a ship is a wonderful way to travel!
